  • Applebee’s app delivers seamless simplicity

    Glendale, California-based casual dining retailer Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar already allows customers to place orders ahead of time for curbside pickup, but is looking to extend omnichannel convenience even further.

    Applebee’s, which operates more than 2,000 franchised stores in 49 states, designed the revised mobile app in partnership with digital ordering provider Olo. The revision comes with new capabilities including a simplified order placement process that allows for advance ordering and order scheduling for any time in the future.

  • Dick's Sporting Goods to backfill former J.C. Penney space at Cumberland Mall

    Vineland, N.J. -- PREIT announced its plans to open a Dick's Sporting Goods at Cumberland Mall in Vineland, New Jersey. The sports and fitness retailer will occupy the former J.C. Penney Department Store space in a 50,000 sq. ft. location.

    “This transaction demonstrates PREIT's continued success in replacing anchors with in-demand retailers,” states Joseph F. Coradino, CEO for PREIT "The addition of Dick's Sporting Goods will improve the merchandise mix and solidify the tenant roster at Cumberland Mall.”

  • Fast-casual chain names DineEquity exec as CFO

    Jackson, Miss. -- The fast-growing Newk’s Eatery named Robert Nygren as CFO.

    Nygren comes to Newk’s with nearly two decades of financial management experience. He most recently served as VP of finance for DineEquity, the world’s largest full-service restaurant company, overseeing financial planning, analytics and strategy for Applebee’s and IHOP in conjunction with the brands’ operational and development objectives.
