C-Suite Moves: July update
Here are the major C-suite changes that occurred in July, starting with the most recent. (All changes have already taken effect unless otherwise noted.)
•Wendy Arlin was elected chair of Kohl’s Corp. Arlin, a former Bath & Body and L Brands executive, replaced John Schlifske who, after nearly 15 years of service, retired from the board for personal reasons and stepped down as chair.
•Babylist, the fast-growing platform for new parents and gift-givers, named Jennifer Hyman as CEO, effective Sept. 9. She will succeed founder Natalie Gordon, who will become executive chair. Hyman co-founded Rent the Runway in 2009 and served as its CEO for nearly two decades before stepping down in May.
•Shapewear and intimates brand Skims promoted Tracy Nguyen to chief communications officer.
•Luxury furniture and design services retailer RH promoted company veteran Sandy Pilon to the role of chief customer experience and values officer. Pilon has spent the past 18 years at RH, having held key leadership positions across the organization.
•Albertsons Companies’ president and CFO Sharon McCollam will retire later this year. She will remain in her role until a successor is named, and will remain with the company in an advisory capacity until the end of its fiscal year.
•Joe DePinto, former president and CEO of 7-Eleven Inc., was elected to the board of Target Corp.
•Kieran Shanahan, COO of Walmart U.S., is stepping down from her role, succeeded by 25-year company veteran Kyle Kinnard, currently COO for Walmart International. Shanahan will remain at the company as an advisor through the end of Walmart’s fiscal year.
•Apparel giant PVH Corp., parent company of Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, tapped Alex Rollier as its new CFO. Rollier, who will join PVH in September, has served as global COO and global CFO of Sephora since 2018.
•Macy Inc.’s Bluemercury banner named Alex Choueiri as CEO. He succeeds Maly Bernstein, who left in September 2025 to join Bath & Body Works. Most recently, Choueiri served as CEO and president, Americas, at Kering Beau.
•The Kroger Co. appointed Emilee De Martino as chief people officer. She succeeds Tim Massa, who will retire on Sept. 18. De Martino joins Kroger from McDonald's, where she most recently served as senior VP and chief people officer for International Operated Markets for four year
•American Eagle Outfitters Inc. named Ravi Thanawala as CFO, joining the company after three years in the same role at Papa Johns. Thanawala succeeds Mike Mathias, who transitions to full-time non-executive strategic advisor to American Eagle CEO and executive chairman Jay Schottenstein.
In addition to the above, Best Buy Inc. restructured its executive leadership team giant and made five C-suite appointments in July, all effective immediately. Four of the five appointees are longtime company veterans.
•Frank Bedo was named chief strategy and growth officer. Bedo has more than 25 years of merchandising and e-commerce experience at Best Buy.
•Patrick McGinnis was named chief revenue officer. McGinnis joined Best Buy in 2002 and has held a variety of leadership roles at the chain.
•Luke Motschenbacker was named chief retail and services officer. Motschenbacher has been at Best Buy more than 20 years and has managed and developed strategic relationships and led a variety of merchandising teams.
•Duane Scarboro was named chief fulfillment and operations officer. Scarboro joined Best Buy in 2003 and has been instrumental in modernizing Best Buy’s supply chain,
•Lisa Valentino was named chief ads and media officer. Valentino joined Best Buy in 2024 and has more than 20 years of media and advertising leadership experience.
