  • BJ's Restaurants opens in Tyler, Texas

    Huntington Beach, Calif. -- BJ's Restaurants on Tuesday announced the opening of its newest restaurant in Tyler, Texas on Feb. 28.

    The new, 8,000-sq.-ft. BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse is the newest addition to the 650,000-sq.-ft. Broadway Square Mall.

    According to Jerry Deitchle, chairman and CEO of BJ’s, the company is on track to open as many as 12 to 13 new restaurants during 2011 and currently has six new restaurants under construction for planned openings later this year.

  • Fresh & Easy enters Northern California

    San Jose, Calif. -- Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market on Wednesday celebrated the opening of its first locations in Northern California, in San Jose, and Danville.

    The openings are the first of more than a dozen Fresh & Easy stores set to open early this year in Northern California. The chain, which opened its first stores in 2007, currently has 166 locations.
     

  • Paducah firm named to renovate Kentucky Oaks Mall

    Paducah, Ky. -- Youngstown, Ohio-based Cafaro Co. said that A&K Construction, based in Paducah, Ky., will serve as general contractor for the multi-million-dollar renovation of Kentucky Oaks Mall, also located in Paducah.

    A&K Construction will guide the work that will transform the look of the 28-year-old mall, with new entrance features, ceiling treatments, skylights, upgraded flooring, energy efficient lighting and HVAC systems, modernized public restrooms and other amenities.

  • Ross Dress for Less to open at Target Place Plaza

    Olympia, Wash. -- Youngstown, Ohio-based Cafaro Co. said Tuesday that Ross Dress for Less will open a new store at its Target Place Plaza, located in Olympia, Wash.

    The new 28,000-sq.-ft. store will open to the public on March 5.

    Target Place Plaza is a 282,183-sq.-ft. center anchored by Target, along with Ross Dress For Less, OfficeMax, Macy’s Furniture Gallery, FedEx Kinkos, Whistle Workwear, Honey Baked Ham, Jo-Ann Etc. and more.

  • BJ’s Q4 earnings fall on store closing cost

    Westborough, Mass. -- BJ's Wholesale Club's fiscal fourth-quarter net income fell 81% on a one-time $41.1 million charge related to store closings, restructuring and asset impairment. But its adjusted earnings beat expectations.

    The wholesale club operator earned $10.2 million for the quarter, compared with $54.5 million a year ago.

    Net sales for the fourth quarter ended Jan. 29, increased by 7.4% to $2.90 billion, and comparable club sales increased by 3.8%, including a contribution from sales of gasoline of 2.1%.

  • Regency Centers to renovate Beckett Commons

    West Chester, Ohio -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has begun construction to renovate Beckett Commons shopping center, located in West Chester, Ohio.

    The center remodel will include demising vacant space into six additional side shop spaces, new exterior façade and awnings, upgraded signage, new roof and HVAC units.

  • Fresh & Easy officially opened in NoCal

    SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market has entered Northern California with the opening of its first store in San Jose. The grocer also opened another Bay Area store in Danville today.

  • Mendota Plaza

    Originally purchased by Paster Enterprises in 1985, Mendota Plaza in Mendota Heights, Minn., underwent a minor facelift in 1989. In 2005, it became evident that the 60,000-sq.-ft. community shopping center needed a significant revitalization, and so the planning began. While developing the plans for the new and improved Mendota Plaza, Paster Enterprises worked tirelessly to acquire the adjacent eight acres of land. Along with several smaller parcels, the land was acquired, bringing the full parcel to 21.2 acres.
