Macy’s to expand in Calif.

Cincinnati Macy’s Inc. will open two stores in California after acquiring the leases for the locations through the liquidation of the former Gottschalks chain, according to the Business Courier of Cincinnati.

The stores, in Fresno and Visalia, Calif. are slated to open before the 2009 holiday season. The locations are expected to employ 250 combined.

Gottschalk’s filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January.
