  • Buffalo Exchange to open in North Carolina

    Charlotte, N.C. - Resale clothing retailer Buffalo Exchange brings the original concept of buy-sell-trade clothing to Charlotte with the opening of its first North Carolina store, located in the Plaza-Midwood neighborhood at 1521 Central Avenue, in mid-April.

  • Report: New bidders emerge for Blockbuster

    New York City -- Several bidders, including Dish Network Corp. and billionaire investor Carl Icahn, are ready to battle for Blockbuster at a bankruptcy auction in New York on Monday, the Associated Press reported. The chain, which filed Chapter 11 in February, has received several bids other than the opening bid of $290 million from a group of debtholders made in February.

    Dish and Icahn have each submitted a bid, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

  • Nutrition for sale

    PITTSBURGH — General Nutrition Centers Thursday evening announced its initial public offering of 22.5 million shares of its Class A common stock at an opening price of $16 per share.

    Of the shares offered, 16 million are being issued and sold by GNC and 6.5 million shares are being sold by selling stockholders.

    In addition, selling stockholders have granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 3.4 million shares. That offering is expected to close on April 6.

  • Combined Properties names legal exec

    Washington, D.C. -- Combined Properties announced that Jessica Berets has joined the company as Assistant General Counsel. 

    Berets will be responsible for drafting, negotiating and consummating a variety of legal documents, including lease agreements with tenants in the commercial retail real estate portfolio managed by Combined Properties, and providing advice and counsel to the company's leasing, construction and property management departments.
     

  • Edens & Avant announces new hires

    Columbia, S.C. -- Edens & Avant announced it has appointed Peter Melmed as VP construction and development. 

    Melmed will be based in Bethesda, Md., and will oversee the construction of large-scale development and redevelopments throughout the Edens & Avant portfolio.

    Prior to joining Edens & Avant, Melmed was a real estate consultant at PJM Realty.

  • Nordstrom Rack to open in Boise, Idaho

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced plans to open a Nordstrom Rack in Boise, Idaho.

    The 37,000-sq.-ft. store will be part of the Boise Towne Plaza shopping center and is expected to open in spring 2012.

  • Cinemark to open new 14-screen theater at Presidio Junction

    Fort Worth, Texas -- The Weitzman Group/Cencor Realty Services announced that Cinemark Holdings will construct a 14-screen, all-digital movie theater that will feature the company's new Cinemark NextGen design concept.   

    Cinemark has entered into an agreement to purchase 10 acres in Presidio Junction, a 300-acre master-planned mixed-use development of LNR Property LLC, located eight miles north of downtown Fort Worth, Texas.

  • Charming Charlie opening at Patriot Place

    Foxborough, Mass. -- Patriot Place shopping center, located in Foxborough, Mass., announced that Charming Charlie boutique opened today, its first location in Massachusetts.
