  • Lowe's scales back store plans

    MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Lowe's Monday announced that it would close several stores and discontinue a number of planned new store projects as the company looks to bounce back from a second quarter of declining earnings and flat same-store sales.

    The company closed 10 locations on Oct. 16 and said it would close another 10 within the month, following an inventory sell-through.

  • X Team names new president, board members

    San Francisco -- X Team International, an international alliance of retail real estate advisors, announced the election of John Cumbelich as its new president and Clay Mote and David Larson as new board members.

    Exiting president is Nelson Wheeler of Strategic Retail Advisors-California.

    Although Walmart won’t provide official fourth-quarter sales guidance until Nov. 15 when it releases third-quarter sales, company executives sounded very bullish about Walmart’s prospects for holiday success and longer-term growth during an all-day meeting with financial analysts on Wednesday.

  • American Girl to open in St. Louis area

    Middleton, Wis. -- American Girl, a division of Mattel, will open a store at Chesterfield Mall, in the St. Louis suburb of Chesterfield, Mo.

    The 10,850-sq-.ft. American Girl store is slated to open in spring 2012.

  • Brixmor announces opening of 32 Halloween-themed stores

    New York City -- Brixmor Property Group US said Tuesday that 21 leases have been executed with Spirit Halloween and 11 leases with Halloween City across Brixmor’s property portfolio. 

    The seasonal stores are scheduled to be open through Halloween, and include shopping centers in 19 states.

  • Edens & Avant announces refinancing of unsecured revolving credit facilities

    Columbia, S.C. -- Edens & Avant announced Tuesday that it has closed on the refinancing of its $350 million unsecured revolving credit facility and $30 million unsecured working capital line.

    Both will mature in September 2014, but include two, one-year extensions that could extend both facilities through September 2016.

  • StreetMac acquires Texas and Oklahoma malls

    Northbrook, Ill. -- StreetMac Asset Managers announced that an affiliate has purchased the Brazos Mall in Lake Jackson, Texas, and the Shawnee Mall in Shawnee, Okla., through a joint venture with an affiliate of Stamford, Conn.-based Five Mile Capital Partners. The seller was Lightstone Properties.

    The two malls have a combined 1.14 million sq. ft. of leasable retail space. Terms were not disclosed. The acquisitions represent StreetMac’s inaugural purchases of retail malls in markets nationwide.

  • OfficeMax to relocate in College Station

    College Station, Texas -- Houston-based Baker Katz, an X Team International partner, said that it has completed a lease for the relocation of OfficeMax in College Station, Texas.
