  • Forever 21 to expand at Discover Mills

    Lawrenceville, Ga. -- Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group and its real estate platform The Mills announced that a newly expanded 20,000-sq.-ft. Forever 21 will open at its value retail destination Discover Mills, located in Atlanta.

    The enlarged Forever 21 is slated to open summer 2012 near Entry 5 across from Nike Factory Store.

    “An expanded and relocated Forever 21 enhances our value retail mix and the overall shopping experience at Discover Mills,” said Karl Woodard, general manager of Discover Mills.

  • Von Maur joins Riverchase Galleria project

    Hoover, Ala. -- Chicago-based General Growth Properties and Montgomery, Ala.-based Jim Wilson & Associates announced that Von Maur department store will open at Riverchase Galleria, in Hoover, Ala.

    Alabama’s first Von Maur will open in 2013, featuring a 187,000-sq.-ft. store that will join Macy’s, Sears, J.C. Penney and Belk anchors.

  • Retailers at River Chase Shopping Center celebrate openings

    Covington, La. -- Stirling Property Group said that River Chase Shopping Center, in Covington, La., is celebrating the openings of several national retailers in the development’s newest phase. 

    The first openings are scheduled to occur over the next few weeks with others to open this summer.

  • Northridge Fashion Center names marketing manager

    Northridge, Calif. -- Chicago-based General Growth Properties announced that Brooke Whitebread has been named general manager of its Northridge Fashion Center property, located in Northridge, Calif.

    Whitebread will oversee coordination and implementation of strategic advertising, public relations, budgeting, retailer relations and special events.

    Whitebread comes from a GGP-owned center, Fashion Place in Salt Lake City, Utah where she developed and executed strategic marketing plans. 
     

  • Macy's gets new look in New York

    NEW YORK — The iconic Macy's Herald Square flagship in New York City is getting a facelift. The company has started work on the four-year renovation of the store, which will include what it says will be the “world’s largest shoe floor,” with 300,000 pairs of shoes stepping into a new 63,000 -sq.-ft. space (retail and stock).

  • Sprouts Farmers Market and Sunflowers Farmers to merge

    New York -- Sprouts Farmers Market, a Phoenix-based natural-foods supermarket chain, has reached an agreement to merge with competitor, Sunflower Farmers Market, based in Boulder, Col. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

    The combined company will operate 139 stores in eight states under the Sprouts banner, with annual sales of approximately $2 billion. It will open about 12 new stores this year.

    “Our operations are very similar," said Sprouts president Doug Sanders, who will lead the combined supermarket company.

  • Dunkin' Donuts announces nine new restaurants in Omaha and Lincoln, Neb.

    Canton, Mass. -- Dunkin' Donuts announced Monday the signing of a multi-unit store development agreement with QSR Services for nine new restaurants in Omaha and Lincoln, Neb.

    The first restaurant is planned to open in 2013, and the remainder by 2017.

    "We are excited to expand Dunkin' Donuts' presence in Omaha and Lincoln and play an important role in the daily lives of people who live, work and visit here," said Bryce Bares, president, QSR Services.
