  • Modernizing Broadway Mall

    Hicksville, N.Y. -- Pacific Retail Capital Partners announced renovations are underway for Broadway Mall located in Hicksville, New York. Mall renovations will focus on updating the main entrance to provide a grander, more recognizable entrance, modernizing the walkways with new flooring and improving outdoor hardscapes and landscapes with new benches, seating, foliage and flowers.
     

  • Gordmans shrinks Q3 loss, will open two stores

    Omaha, Neb. — Gordmans Stores Inc. was able to reduce its net loss in the third quarter of fiscal 2015 as a result of gross margin improvements. Net loss totaled $3.03 million, compared to $3.19 million the same quarter a year earlier.

    Net sales increased 2% to $143.4 million from $141 million Same-store sales dropped 1.6%, negatively impacted due to a sales tax holiday shift from July to August.

    Gordmans intends to open two additional new stores in the third quarter of 2015 and close one store later this year when the lease term expires.

  • Ramen shop taps JLL for U.S. expansion

    Chicago – Japanese fast-casual dining chain Jinya Ramen Bar, is using tenant representation from JLL to expand its U.S. brand. Jinya expects to add an additional nine U.S. franchise locations in key cities.

    Currently, there are 14 locations throughout Japan, the U.S., Canada and Indonesia, all of which operate under Jinya brands. Senior VP Greg Ferrante and associate Arris Noble are leading the JLL team on this project.

  • Stanbery Development names former retailer as new construction lead

    Bexley, Ohio -- Stanbery Development said it has named former Jos. A. Bank exec Stephen E. Gallant as director of construction and tenant coordination as it returns to active development of shopping centers. Gallant's experience includes responsibility for numerous retail design concepts as well as associated rollouts of new stores ranging from 850 sq. ft. to 250,000 sq. ft.   • Mid-America Real Estate names Urban Team VP

    Chicago – Mid-America Real Estate Corporation announced the addition of Lara Keene as VP to the Urban Team. Prior to joining Mid-America Keene was managing director at RKF and part of Baum Realty Group’s tenant and luxury division.

    Keene will be specializing in landlord and tenant representation with a focus on Chicago’s luxury fashion streets and neighborhoods.

  • Tri-Land Properties names Paul R. Sevenich as VP

    Westmont, Ill. -- Tri-Land Properties said that it has named Paul R. Sevenich as VP of leasing. Sevenich brings 30-plus years’ experience in retail real estate development and redevelopment, acquisitions, retail center positioning, value enhanced leasing, merchandising strategies and financial analysis of the Midwest and the South. Some of the companies he has worked for include CSM Corporation, Kraus-Anderson, CBL & Associates and General Growth.

  • Starwood Retail Partners announces new CFO

    Greenwich, Conn. -- Starwood Retail Partners, the retail operating platform formed by Starwood Capital Group, announced that it has named Angela Aman CFO, effective Aug. 10. Aman brings more than a decade of experience as a financial executive to her newly created position, including having spent the last four years as CFO and treasurer of Retail Properties of America, Inc.

    Aman will be responsible for strategic planning, implementing and management of all accounting and financial functions, as well as investor relations and partner reporting.

  • Nation’s largest operator of wholly owned grocery-anchored centers acquires Boston property

    Marshfield, Mass. -- Brixmor Property Group has acquired Webster Square, an 182,756-sq.-ft., grocery-anchored community center located on Boston’s South Shore. Cushman & Wakefield oversaw the transaction of the Star Market-anchored community shopping center on behalf of Curtis Management.
