  • Stirling Properties acquires Avant Properties

    Covington, La. -- Stirling Properties announced it has acquired Shreveport, La.-based Avant Properties, strengthening Stirling’s presence in the Gulf South.

    Avant Properties’ current personnel and portfolio will be integrated into Stirling Properties operations. 

  • Orangetheory Fitness Studio to open on Long Island

    New York City -- Sabre Real Estate Group said it has arranged a lease for the first Orangetheory Fitness Studio on Long Island.

    The lease with landlord Federal Realty Investment Trust is for 3,480 sq. ft. at the Huntington Square Mall, located in East Northport and anchored by Sears and Barnes & Noble. The studio is expected to open in February.

    Orangetheory Fitness has plans to open as many as 30 studios in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. 
     

  • DDR and Anna's Linens partner to open three Puerto Rico stores

    Beachwood, Ohio -- Shopping center developer DDR Corp. said Monday that Anna's Linens will open three of its first Puerto Rico stores at DDR shopping centers.

    These new locations represent the most recent example of DDR's efforts to strategically reduce and reconfigure small shop space at attractive market rents with high-quality tenants.

  • Michaels to open at The Forum at Grandview

    Madison, Miss. -- Chattanooga, Tenn.-based CBL & Associates Properties announced that Michaels would join the second phase of The Forum at Grandview, a community center in Madison, Miss.

    Construction for the 83,000-sq.-ft. second phase is currently underway. In addition to Michaels, anchors will include Ulta, Homegoods, and Petco as well as 14,000 sq. ft. of specialty stores. The opening of phase II is scheduled for summer 2012.

  • Winick Realty Group inks two leases in Corona, Queens

    New York City -- Winick Realty Group said that children’s retailer Youngworld leased 30,000 sq. ft. for a new three-story location in the Corona section of Queens, N.Y.

    The retailer has been a part of the community for more than 30 years, previously operating a 20,000-sq.-ft. location nearby. Built after the address had been ravaged by fire, the new, all-glass construction features 18-ft. ceilings and three floors of retail measuring 10,000 sq. ft. apiece.

  • CBL to renovate four major malls in 2012

    Chattanooga, Tenn. -- CBL & Associates Properties announced that in 2012 it will complete multimillion dollar renovations at four market-dominant CBL Malls, with projects scheduled for Cross Creek Mall in Fayetteville, N.C.; Post Oak Mall in College Station, Texas; Turtle Creek Mall in Hattiesburg, Miss.; and Mall del Norte in Laredo, Texas. 

    The renovations are expected to be completed by the end of 2012.

  • Kohl's opens new DC to handle website fulfillment

    MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — Kohl’s Department Stores announced that it has entered into a purchase agreement to build a new e-commerce distribution center located at I-35 and Centre Park Blvd. in DeSoto, Texas. Expected to open in summer 2012, upon completion the approximately 951,000 sq.-ft. building will fulfill Kohls.com purchases. Kohl’s will close on the agreement once the building process is complete.

  • Drafthouse Cinema to open at One Loudoun

    McLean, Va. -- One Loudoun Holdings, a joint venture of Miller and Smith and North America Sekisui House, and its retail development partner, Potomac Development Group, announced that Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will open a new location at One Loudoun in Loudoun County, Va.

    The 34,000-sq.-ft. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will be the first in the
    Washington, D.C., market area. Construction will commence in spring 2012 with a projected opening in spring 2013.
