  • Area marketing director named for two Mills properties

    Ontario, Calif. -- Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group announced that Masa Liles has joined The Mills, a Simon Co., as area director of marketing for Ontario Mills, California’s largest outlet and value retail shopping destination, and The Block at Orange, an open-air shopping, dining and entertainment destination in southern California.

  • Walmart promotes NYC efforts with new website

    New York City -- Though Walmart's desire to enter New York City is nothing new, its latest push shows that attitudes toward the retailer opening stores in the Big Apple are changing -- in Walmart's favor.

    The company recently launched WalmartNYC.com, a "community forum for customers, associates, stakeholders and public officials who want to learn more about Walmart as it continues to evaluate opportunities across the city," according to a company press release.

  • New Ebay fashion head a "Lucky" find

    SAN JOSE, Calif. - Ebay has announced that it will engage fashion publishing innovator and style luminary Andrea Linett as creative director for Ebay fashion. Working with Ebay’s fashion business, marketing and communications units for North America, and the company’s technology team, Linett will drive the creative vision for the company’s multibillion-dollar fashion business and will be responsible for advancing the image, voice and editorial style for the marketplace’s clothing, shoes and accessories category, the company reported.

  • Starbucks debuts new logo

    New York City -- Starbucks unveiled a new logo Wednesday, dropping the circle with the words “Starbucks” and “Coffee” that surround its signature mermaid.

    Starbucks, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, said the changes represent a fresh look for the company as it begins the next chapter in its history and emphasizes selling Starbucks-brand products in supermarkets and other channels beyond its retail stores.

  • Office Depot launches messy office sweepstakes

    BOCA RATON, Fla. - Office Depot announced that it is inviting customers to upload photos of their messy, unorganized office space or desk its Facebook page for a chance to be named "America's Messiest Office" and win a wide selection of prizes.

    Photos can be uploaded through Jan. 31, and the person with the messiest office will win a $10,000 office makeover. Additionally, 10 visitors daily will win a $100 Office Depot gift card, and everyone who submits a messy office photo will receive a special Office Depot coupon good for a future purchase.

  • Baby got billboard thanks to Target

    Not sure why parents of a newborn would want to share images of their child with throngs of people gathered in Times Square or motorists in Los Angeles, but in these celebrity-obsessed and digitally-enabled times a lot of behaviors defy logic.

    Be that as it may, Target devised a novel brand-building campaign that allowed parent to essentially share images of their baby with a universe of complete strangers as opposed to the more discrete tradition of limiting viewings to family and a close knit group of friends.

  • Target offers new way to welcome baby

    MINNEAPOLIS - Target has created a new way for parents to share news about their new baby. The company last week announced the launch of its Big Baby Billboard, an interactive online experience that includes an outdoor presence in New York City and Los Angeles. For a limited time, parents can visit the Target Baby Facebook page to create a playful digital birth announcement that can be shared online with family and friends, the company reported. Target said it will then randomly select birth announcements for display in New York City's Times Square (through Jan.
