  • Online lingerie retailer gets a big-name CMO

    NEW YORK — Online lingerie retailer BareNecessities.com announced that it has named Jay Dunn as its new CMO.

    Dunn was the former VP/CMO of Lane Bryant and the man behind the company's controversial "Red Bra" campaign that was banned from ABC for being "too sexy." The campaign went viral and ended up winning several awards and being named Brandweek's top story of 2010. 

  • Macy's urges youth to 'DoSomething' in new campaign

    NEW YORK — Macy's announced that it is partnering with DoSomething.org to encourage students to make a difference in their communities. Launching on Aug. 8, the initiative will connect young people across the country with DoSomething.org and provide them volunteer opportunities in their area, the company reported.

  • The hits keep coming for P&G and Walmart

    The seventh installment in the Family Movie Night entertainment initiative between Procter & Gamble and Walmart is set to air this Saturday at 8 p.m. on NBC. The made-for-TV movie, Who is Simon Miller?, is billed as a heart-pounding summer spy drama that tests the limits to which families will fight for each other that will keep the whole family riveted.

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. -- Sears Holdings has announced the launch of two Latino social media channels: Facebook.com/SearsLatino and a Twitter handle @SearsLatino.

    Ann Arbor, Mich. -- The reviews are coming in, and Domino’s Pizza is streaming them atop a billboard in one of the country’s busiest intersections: Manhattan’s Times Square.

  • Kohl's awards youth for volunteer efforts

    MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — Kohl’s Department Stores announced that it has awarded 10 students, ranging in age from 10 to 17, with a total of $10,000 in scholarship money for post-secondary education. In addition to the scholarships, Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization of each winner’s choice. 

  • JCPenney supports youth programs one penny at a time

    PLANO, Texas — JCPenney announced that it is launching a new philanthropic initiative that invites customers in over 1,100 stores to turn small change into “pennies from heaven” by rounding up their purchases and donating the difference to afterschool programs. Serving as the company’s signature cause-related event, pennies from heaven will be held four times a year starting July 31 through Aug. 27 during the Back-to-School season.

  • 'Modern Family' star goes back-to-school with Staples

    FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — Staples announced that Rico Rodriguez, of TV's "Modern Family" will star in the retailer's new back-to-school campaign. 

    "Staples is the top destination for back-to-school shopping with great deals all season long," said Jevin Eagle, EVP merchandising and marketing for Staples. "We have amazing deals and a huge selection of school supplies and technology for students."
