  • Dollar General raising funds, awareness for Autism

    GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. -- Dollar General have announced their partnership to increase awareness of autism and raise funds for autism research and advocacy during Autism Awareness Month in April.

    “This disorder affects many of our customers and we are proud to help fund research for the cause,” said Rick Dreiling, chairman and CEO of Dollar General.

    Forest City Commercial Management in partnership with social shopping network, Shoptopia, kicked off Project Style, the award-winning fashion competition for guys and girls ages 13 and up. From April through August, Forest City shopping centers nationwide will select two fashion trendsetters for each center each round, during a five-round contest, to put their sense of style and fashion to the test by creating the ultimate outfit.

  • Report: Target puts Canadian sales at $6 billion by 2017

    New York City -- Target expects sales from its upcoming Canadian stores to total more than $6 billion by 2017, the company’s CFO said Tuesday, Dow Jones reported.

    Speaking to Wall Street analysts, CFO Douglas Scovanner said Target expects to have more than 200 stores in Canada within the next five to 10 years, with the stores generating about $6 billion Canadian ($6.27 billion in U.S. dollars based on Tuesday’s exchange rate).

  • Amazon offers cheaper Kindle with side of ads

    SEATTLE — Amazon announced that it is now offering a new Kindle for $114, compared with $139 for its standard model and $189 for the 3G version. The catch is that the $114 Kindle requires the user to view special offers and sponsored products on screensavers and on the bottom of the home screen.
