  • Overstock.com offers private label card

    Salt Lake City - Overstock.com is offering a private label credit card issued through Comenity Capital Bank. To pay using the Overstock.com store card, shoppers select that option when checking out.

    They are then prompted to submit a brief application, after which approval is confirmed within seconds. The card number is stored in conjunction with the customer's Overstock.com account, though the customer also receives a physical card.

  • Survey: Seven-in-10 consumers say digital coupons have positive impact

    Austin, Texas - Nearly seven-in-10 consumers (68%) surveyed strongly believe that digital coupons have a positive impact on a retailer's brand, and 68% also state that coupons generate loyalty. According to a new survey from RetailMeNot Inc. and Forrester Consulting, digital coupons increase the potential for conversion when consumers are in the cart and checkout phase of a purchase, and they play a key role in combating shopping cart abandonment.

    Charlotte, N.C. -- Belk Inc. has launched a digital back-to-school campaign with digital and social marketing platform provider HelloWorld. The campaign will run through Sept. 15.

  • Overstock.com offers free shipment of used goods to charity

    Salt Lake City - Overstock.com Inc. is launching a partnership with Give Back Box, a non-profit organization dedicated to facilitate charitable donations. Through the partnership, Overstock.com gives customers the ability to re-use the box in which their order arrived, along with Give Back Box's free shipping label, to ship used household items directly to non-profit organizations across the U.S.

  • Kmart gets help from Biggest Loser star

    Fitness guru Jillian Michaels and Kmart this month plan to launch a new line of performance activewear branded as Impact by Jillian Michaels as part of Kmart's strategy to expand and strengthen health and wellness offerings.

    The product line will be available online beginning August 10 for Kmart’s Shopyourway.com members and in stores on August 17 with prices ranging from $10.99 to $36.99. The line of apparel and accessories encompasses categories such as core training, running, yoga and lifestyle.

    Paducah, Ky. – Ice cream retailer Dippin' Dots has launched a fully interactive mobile site that integrates augmented reality with a fan loyalty program known as the Dot Crazy Rewards Club. The program, named Bubandu, provides a universal augmented reality viewer from Rocktops Digital Media that enables companies to market their brands on a mobile device without having to build an app.

    Retailers often have trouble balancing their overall promotions plan with offers and discounts for their loyalty program. In fact, it may be enough of an issue that they keep loyalty as an independent P&L entity, or even steer clear of loyalty altogether to avoid the problem. After all, every retail business is about profit, and adding another layer of promotional discounts into the mix could be seen as a threat to the bottom line.
