  • Waffle restaurant expands presence with Strand on 5th unit

    Huntington Beach, Calif. -- Bruxie announced that it opened its fifth waffle restaurant, with a new unit in Southern California in Huntington Beach on April 23.

    Bruxie Gourmet Waffles opened at The Strand on 5th, a collection of shops and restaurants, boutique hotel and office space. Other key retail tenants to the coastal attraction include RA Sushi, Forever 21, Skechers, Active Ride, Rip Curl, Merrilee’s Swimwear, Johnny Rockets, ANGL, and CVS Pharmacy.
     

  • Hershey’s posts sweet results in Q1

    HERSHEY, Pa. — The Hershey reported a net sales increase of nearly 6%, driven by core brand volume. Consolidated net sales were $1.8 billion for the first quarter ended March 31, compared with $1.7 billion for the same period last year. 

     

    Reported net income for the first quarter of 2013 was $242 million compared with $199 million for the same period last year.

    SAN FRANCISCO — Bed, Bath & Beyond will test the fitness waters in April and offer Fitmark bags at select California locations to see how well the high-end travel bags fare with customers. 

    Bed, Bath & Beyond customers can find the bags in an entirely new category for the store, aimed at fitness enthusiasts.

    Walmart has teamed with Rogers Media to create a new print and digital property called Walmart Live Better that will be distributed for free in Canada.

    One million copies of the magazine hit the market this week and the content is also available in a variety of digital formats.

  • Edible Arrangements looks to expand in Pacific Northwest

    Wallingford, Conn. -- Edible Arrangements has set its sights on the Pacific Northwest for an aggressive expansion campaign designed to open as many as 30 new locations in the near future.
     
    Edible Arrangements already has 10 locations in Oregon and Washington and sees significant opportunity for growth, which will be accomplished through franchising. Most of the growth will be focused in the Seattle, Tacoma and Portland areas and the company is currently seeking franchisees with the resources to open multiple locations.
     

  • KitchenAid launches recycling program with Illinois electronics store

    BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — KitchenAid is partnering with Abt Electronics in Glenview, Ill. to kick off Earth Week and encourage the responsible disposal of unwanted small electric kitchen appliances. From April 18 through May 16, Abt customers will receive an instant rebate toward the purchase of a new KitchenAid small appliance when they bring in any brand of small electric kitchen appliances to the store.
