  • Kroger observes Earth Day with sustainable seafood video series

    Kroger is inviting customers to celebrate Earth Day by looking to the sea — and to the future of seafood — through a video series designed to inform customers about the company's work to source sustainable seafood.

    "We know that our customers value our commitment to sourcing sustainable seafood," said Suzanne Lindsay-Walker, Kroger's director of sustainability. "We continue to work with fisheries and our supplier partners to ensure that Kroger's seafood is fresh, delicious and available for future generations."

  • Dr Pepper scores with soccer initiative

    It may not rival the FIFA World Cup, but there’s nothing bigger than the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup when it comes to international youth soccer tournaments in the United States.

    Now in its 35th year, the recently concluded youth tournament crowned winning teams from throughout the world who competed in eight age classifications. Other big winners at the event were eight U.S.-based community organizations who each received donations of $5,000 in sports gear on behalf of the winning teams.

  • Peeling the love with Dole

    Dole and Blue Diamond Almond Breeze are launching two simultaneous Peel the Love Banana Cabana Tours in 2014.

    Dole said that the tour aims to reacquaint Americans with “the fun, whimsy and versatility of bananas and offer compelling new ways to add fresh produce to summer meals, snacking, parties and entertaining plans.” Since separate tours launching Memorial Day Weekend covering the Eastern and Western portions of the U.S., Dole will be able to visit banana fans in 26 cities by Labor Day.

  • MasterCard to acquire Pinpoint

    Purchase, N.Y. – MasterCard has entered into an agreement to acquire Pinpoint Pty. Ltd., an Australian provider of loyalty and rewards services to financial institutions across the Asia Pacific region. This acquisition is expected to close in second quarter 2014.

  • Banana Republic teams up with Roland Mouret for limited-edition fall collection

    Banana Republic has teamed up with designer Roland Mouret to launch the Roland Mouret for Banana Republic Collection — a limited-edition collection that uses Banana Republic's signature Sloan contour stretch fabric.

    Mouret is best known for his feminine, hourglass fitted dresses.

  • Hot Topic looks to win with dark Angelina film

    Teen retailer Hot Topic is using the appeal of the pre-order and a Disney film tailor made for its core customers to encourage full margin sales and drive traffic to HotTopic.com.

    The retailer is featuring a limited edition collection of apparel inspired by Disney’s dark anti-hero “Maleficent,” on its Web site for pre-order beginning April 15. Merchandise will be available in stores and online in May with prices ranging from $29.50 to $54.50.

  • Rakuten.com launches rewards program

    New York -- Japanese online giant Rakuten has teamed up with First Bankcard to launch the Rakuten Rewards MasterCard Program, which provides cardholders with reward points for using their credit card to shop on Rakuten.com and elsewhere.

    Rakuten.com, formerly Buy.com, is Rakuten's U.S. marketplace, offering consumers more than 17 million products at everyday low prices from a network of small and large business shop owners.
