  • Hibbett Sports misses Street in Q2

    Birmingham, Ala. – Hibbett Sports Inc. missed Wall Street expectations for profit and sales in the second quarter of fiscal 2015. Net income fell 20% to $8.4 million from $7 million the same quarter the prior fiscal year.   An increase in store operating, selling and administrative expenses helped cut profit. Net sales rose 3% to $199.26 million from $193.92 million. Same-store sales dropped 1.1%.  
  • Gap to test 'fast fashion' in some stores

    With another difficult fiscal quarter under its belt, the CEO of Gap Inc. says the retailer will begin testing fast fashion merchandise in select stores.

  • Lands’ End launches omnichannel fall campaign

    Dodgeville, Wis. — Lands’ End has announced a new omnichannel fall marketing campaign which includes a catalog strategy, complementary digital initiatives and an overall brand advertising campaign.

    Lands’ End will kick off the new strategy with the introduction of different initiatives including two new lifestyle campaigns, Quality.Time and A Closer Look at the Land. Each will be featured online and in catalog format.

    Seattle — Nordstrom Inc. is entering the haute couture space with the introduction of SPACE, a new shop curated by Olivia Kim, director of creative projects. SPACE will offer products from emerging and advanced designers.

    The CEO of Whole Foods says that despite the company's recent bad publicity and sales growth struggles, the retailer plans to stay the course of "conscious capitalism."

  • Stein Mart plans even more expansion in 2016

    On the heels of announcing accelerated plans for expansion in the Northeast and Midwest, Stein Mart has reported impressive sales results for the second quarter.

    The Florida-based off-price retailer reported net income of $4.1 million, up 58% from $1.7 million the prior year quarter. Sa,e store sales rose by 3%. Net sales rose 4% to $311.58 million from $298.16 million.

  • Study: Amazon primes for social growth

    London, U.K. — Online retailing giant Amazon.com is the retail industry's fastest growing social media brand. According to the latest Retail Social Media Benchmark results from eDigitalResearch, Amazon tops both the Facebook and Twitter social media rankings.

    Amazon climbed to the benchmark's top spot, thanks in part to its recent Prime Day sales event, having gained more than 1.2 million new followers on its Twitter account since the last wave back in March.
