  • Double-digit comps boost Tractor Supply in Q1

    The Brentwood, Tenn.-based farm and ranch retailer saw same-store sales increase 11.5% in the first quarter ended March 31. Net sales increased 22% to $1.02 billion.

    Net income for the quarter was $40.3 million, compared to net income of $18.3 million in the same quarter last year.

  • Republic of Couture to open at Delray Marketplace

    Delray Beach, Fla. -- Indianapolis-based Kite Realty Group said Thursday that Republic of Couture will open an 8,000-sq.-ft. store at Delray Marketplace, located in Delray Beach, Fla. The new store is slated to open in November.

    Delray Marketplace is a 270,000-sq.-ft. center anchored by Franks Theatres, Max’s Grille and Publix.

  • Kolletti Bambini opens at Malibu Country Mart

    Malibu, Calif. -- Southern California lifestyle center Malibu Country Mart welcomed Kolletti Bambini, a boutique specializing in designer clothing and accessories for children and infants.

    The 630-sq.-ft. boutique opened on April 20.
     
    Malibu County Mart features 90,000 sq. ft. of high-end retail, dining and services housed in an eclectic mix of architectural styles including Mediterranean, modern and rustic influences. 
     

  • Walmart gets super hero treatment with The Avengers

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart is giving fans of Marvel's "The Avengers" exclusive access to the Super Hero Augmented Reality (AR) game featuring their favorite Avengers, including Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, The Hulk, Hawkeye and Black Widow. This new "Super Hero AR" app is available now for download at the iTunes App Store and Android Market.

    Addison, Texas -- Coyote Management has announced the addition of three new strategic divisions -- a Third Party Management Division, Coyote Creative, and MER Interests.

  • GNC Holdings profit soars in Q1

    Pittsburgh -- GNC Holdings reported Wednesday that adjusted net income for the quarter ended March 31 surged 85% to $64.5 million, compared with $34.9 million a year earlier.

    CEO Joe Fortunato attributed the results to double-digit retail same-store sales growth, a growth in proprietary new products and increased traffic.

    Consolidated revenue for the quarter increased 23.4% to $624.3 million; same-store sales grew 15.8% in domestic company-owned stores (including GNC.com sales), and 18.4% in domestic franchise locations.

  • Emilio Estefan brings Latin flare to Target

    MINNEAPOLIS — Emilio Estefan, the Grammy Award-winning music producer and husband to Gloria Estefan, is working with Target in a unique partnership that will the retailer appeal to the Latin community in key markets.

    According to Target, Estefan will work closely with the company to curate a special selection of his favorite music, movies and books titled “Emilio Estefan’s Picks” that will available at select stores beginning June 6. Target will also leverage Estefan's close ties with Latin artists to develop exclusive music deals.

  • Stop & Shop launches new health initiatives

    PURCHASE, N.Y. — Stop & Shop has launched two new initiatives to make it easier for customers to live healthier lives.

    The company has launched a free, quarterly magazine to help fight childhood obesity and get kids to live healthier lifestyles. Kid Healthy Ideas is a 12-page full-color publication that targets children ages eight to 12 and features health-related educational articles, games and recipes.
