  • ComScore: Online retail spending up 15% to $41.9 billion in Q3

    Reston, Va. -- Online retail spending in the United States reached $41.9 billion in the third quarter, up 15% versus year ago, according to comScore. This represents the twelfth consecutive quarter of positive year-over-year growth and eighth consecutive quarter of double-digit growth.

  • Menasha Packaging receives award for Purell packaging

    NEENAH, Wis. — Menasha Packaging on Wednesday announced receipt of two awards as part of the 69th annual National Paperboard Packaging Competition.

  • L'Oréal honors 10 women's selfless community efforts with Women of Worth initiative

    NEW YORK — Beauty company L'Oréal Paris has recognized the charitable work of 10 women — including Montgomery County district attorney Risa Vetri Ferman, the cofounder of Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center — by distinguishing them as "Women of Worth" and giving them $10,000 each for their individual charities.

  • Fairway goes live with turkey-to-go site

    NEW YORK — New York regional supermarket, Fairway has launched a dedicated website to help customers find the perfect turkey for Thanksgiving.

    Via its turkey ordering website, customers can order organic, kosher or locally-raised birds from a variety of providers. All turkeys are delivered fresh and range in price from $1.99 to $9.99 per pound. Customers will receive reminders for pick-up when their order is ready.

  • Target celebrates new faces of Canadian fashion

    TORONTO — Ahead of its 2013 debut, Target is building its presence in Canada with a new partnership with the Toronto Fashion Incubator for the annual TFI New Labels Fashion Design competition celebrating and supporting up and coming Canadian designers. 

    The winner will receive $25,000 and the chance to create an exclusive collection to be sold in Target stores across Canada in 2014.

  • Spanx opens first freestanding store

    Atlanta -- Shapewear hosiery marketer Spanx has opened its first standalone location, a 1,200-sq.-ft. store in Tysons Corner Center in McLean, Va.

    "With a growing product collection and fan base, our own dedicated space was inevitable,” said Spanx CEO Laurie Ann Goldman.

    Two additional stores are set to open this fall, in King of Prussia, Pa., and Westfield Garden State Plaza, Paramus, N.J.

  • P&G to provide showers, personal care kits and portable power to those impacted by Hurricane Sandy

    UNION BEACH, N.J. — In partnership with the American Red Cross, beginning Nov. 6, the P&G Mobile Relief Center will be stationed in Union Beach, N.J., to provide showers, personal care kits, household products — including Bounty, Charmin, Tide and Dawn — and baby products, including Pampers diapers and wipes, to victims of Hurricane Sandy, Procter & Gamble announced Monday. This service will be free to all victims, responders and their families.

  • Walgreens sales fall 2.1% in October

    Deerfield, Ill. -- Walgreens on Monday reported October sales of $6 billion, down 2.1% compared with October 2011. The results include the brunt of the impact from Hurricane Sandy — at the peak of the storm, approximately 750 of 1,400 stores in the impacted area were closed, Walgreens said. Nearly all of those locations have since reopened.

    Total same-store sales were down 5.9%.
