    The journey to South by Southwest (SXSW) begins long before the leading technology conference even begins. As first time attendees it quickly became apparent that winging it doesn’t work in Austin yet being open to possibilities is also essential essential.

    Stepping of the plan we wondered if we had planned enough. Everyone looked like they knew where they were going and what they were doing and who they were doing it with. We were just trying to find our hotel!

  • Sherwin-Williams opens Spanish-language content platform

    Cleveland - Sherwin-Williams is launching an online Spanish-language platform, SWLatino.com, focusing on Hispanic homeowners, contractors and designers. Sherwin-Williams will feature tips, how-to articles and color information from leading Hispanic bloggers and Sherwin-Williams color experts.

    The new site, integrated with Sherwin-Williams Facebook and Twitter accounts, will connect Latino paint and color professionals, homeowners and designers with Spanish-language content.

  • Sequential Brands appoints new CMO

    Sequential Brands Group has appointed leading brand strategist Jameel Spencer as chief marketing officer, reporting directly to CEO Yehuda Shmidman.

    Spencer will develop and lead all global marketing initiatives for the company's portfolio of consumer brands which include William Rast, People's Liberation, DVS, Heelys, Caribbean Joe, Ellen Tracy, Revo and The Franklin Mint.

  • Personalization push intensifies at CVS

    The digital marketing initiative known as “My Weekly Ad” is helping CVS Caremark grow sales and deepen engagement with loyal customers by providing them with personalized versions of the retailer’s weekly ad.

    The My Weekly Ad program was launched last fall and Wednesday morning during a presentation at the IRI Summit CVS Caremark SVP of merchandising and retail pricing Judy Sansone shared additional details regarding the program.

  • ChannelAdvisor launches digital marketing tool

    Research Triangle Park, N.C. - ChannelAdvisor Corp. is launching a new digital marketing solution. ChannelAdvisor Digital Marketing integrates ChannelAdvisor’s feed management and bid management capabilities, including paid search campaigns, Google Product Listing Ads and other advertising channels, from affiliate marketing to social media.

  • Express enlists Kate Upton as brand ambassador

    Express has enlisted swimsuit model Kate Upton as its brand ambassador, making her the first celebrity spokesperson to be a part of the brand's ad campaigns in the last decade.

    To kick off the partnership, Upton will host the Express Spring-Summer 2014 Runway Show at the Raleigh Hotel in Miami Beach, Fla., Thursday, March 13. The retailer will then debut Upton in advertising campaigns beginning fall 2014.

  • Academy pilots high school business ed program

    Yonkers, N.Y. — Forest City Ratner Cos. has joined Yonkers Partners in Education to create Ridge Hill Academy, a pilot program in which local businesses teach local students about the “behind the scenes” operations of retail management.

    Twenty-five students selected from local high schools have just begun the pilot’s third of five 10-week sessions, which take place at Westchester’s Ridge Hill shopping, dining and entertainment center.
