  • Retail organized crime has a new opponent

    New York – Organized crime groups targeting retail have a new opponent. Multiple retailers and law enforcement agencies across multiple locations and jurisdictions are banding together to form the Retail Organized Crime Coalition (ROCC).

    The ROCC, which will officially launch and introduce its members at the Retail Fraud – New York conference on Sept. 24, will combat chronic retail organized crime through case referrals, education and the distribution of timely intelligence.

  • Petco puts its best paw forward for war dogs

    Petco is putting a spotlight on the plight of military dogs who are left behind with an uncertain fate in a potentially hostile country.

    The Petco Foundation has awarded $250,000 to the United States War Dogs Association to help return, reunite and provide medical care for retiring military and contract working dogs serving overseas with their handlers.

  • Amazon hot in July

    New York -- Amazon should be feeling pumped about the  results of its one-day super sale anniversary event in July.

    The Internet giant had a 30.1% increase in marketplace sales in July over the year-ago period, with the increase likely due to its “Prime Day” sale on  July 15, according to a ChannelAdvisor report.

  • Overstock outfits a partnership with HGTV

    Overstock.com is embarking on a promotion that promises to wow many of its core shoppers, as well as avid viewers of home and garden shows.

    The retailer is partnering with HGTV to furnish a home as part of the annual HGTV Urban Oasis 2015 giveaway. This year's home is an approximately 1,300-square-foot bungalow located in the heart of trendy artistic enclave Asheville, N.C. (as shown above).

  • Vegas Starbucks will be 'one-of-a-kind'

    New York -- Starbucks is going big on the Las Vegas Strip.

    The coffee giant is building a store that, in a first for Starbucks, will feature stadium-styled "grandstand" seating from which customers can, in another first, view a huge projector screen, reported Las Vegas Review-Journal. For a video of the store click here.

  • Macys hits the runway

    New York -- Macy's is planning a catwalk show of its own to close out the biggest fashion week of the year.

    The retailer announced that it will host “Macy’s Presents Fashion’s Front Row” on Sept. 17 in New York City, featuring celebrities, musical acts and a runway show.
