  • Click and collect coming to Bentonville

    Walmart has gotten the green light to build its drive-in grocery center in Bentonville, Ark., near the intersection of S. Walton Blvd. and J St., according to an article in The City Wire.

    The article reported that Bentonville’s Planning Commission approved Walmart’s request “to approve slight variations in its parking stall depths, number of curb cuts and the building materials . . . with no discussion.”

  • Hollister to open summer beach house

    Hollister plans to open the Hollister House this summer from Memorial Day weekend through early August. The brand, rooted in Southern California, will feature new summer styles and host music performances at the beach house all summer long.

    The lineup of musical artists includes Ariana Grande, Chromeo (DJ set), Cody Simpson, Lucy Hale, MKTO, Timeflies and Zendaya.

  • Uniqlo to open stores in Boston, Philly markets

    New York - Uniqlo announced it will enter two new markets, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, starting this spring. The Japanese apparel giant will open three stores in the Philadelphia market and six stores in the Boston metro area.  In addition, Uniqlo will open a pop-up shop at Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Boston, early this summer.

    Uniqlo will enter Pennsylvania with three stores in the greater Philadelphia area:

    • King of Prussia Mall, King of Prussia (May 16)
    • 1608 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia (Oct. 3)

  • Hudson’s Bay names CFO

    Toronto -- Hudson’s Bay Company named Paul V. Beesley as CFO, effective in June.

    Beesley is a senior executive with extensive experience in financial management and strategic development across a range of leading Canadian-based companies. From 2000 to 2014, he served in a number of executive roles with Empire Company Limited, a corporation with annual sales in excess of $19 billion and operations in retailing and related real estate, including chief corporate development officer of the Sobeys unit and executive VP and CFO of Empire.

  • Retail imports to increase 3.5% in May as port labor negotiations begin

    Washington, D.C. -- Import volume at the nation’s major retail container ports is expected to increase 3.5% in May as negotiators prepare to begin talks on a new contract for West Coast dockworkers, according to the monthly Global Port Tracker report released by the National Retail Federation and Hackett Associates.

  • Voltage Security expands availability of end-to-end data encryption

    Cupertino, Calif. -- Voltage Security announced a new product integration with device manufacturer Uniform Industrial Corp. (UIC) that provides end-to-end data encryption for the retail payments industry, a key technology in light of the recent data breaches.   • SAS and 360pi team up to help retailers price right

    Ottawa, Canada -- 360pi, a leading provider of retail price and product intelligence, announced a collaborative effort with SAS, a leader in business analytics software and services. The goal is to allow retailers who combine 360pi's competitive price intelligence with SAS' revenue optimization engine to gain full real-time visibility into competitive pricing to make more profitable pricing decisions.

  • Target interim CEO: Customers can shop with confidence

    New York -- John Mulligan, the interim CEO of Target, said he wants customers to know they can shop with confidence at Target. Mulligan made his remarks during a TV interview with CNN's Poppy Harlow (See video below).

    Mulligan, CFO of Target, was named as the interim CEO on Monday. He replaced company veteran Gregg Steinhafel, who departed the chain as it deals with the ongoing aftermath of its data breach.
