  • Jones Lang LaSalle to lease and manage Grande Promenade

    Charlotte, N.C. -- Atlanta-based Jones Lang LaSalle announced that USA Grande Promenade Management chose the firm to lease and manage Grande Promenade, a 202,000-sq.-ft., multi-level, mixed-use property in Charlotte, N.C.

    The new assignment brings Jones Lang LaSalle’s retail portfolio in North Carolina to nearly 1.4 million sq. ft. of space.

  • NRF urges Senate to take action on easing Visa requirements

    WASHINGTON — The National Retail Federation announced that it has urged the Senate to approve legislation that would help create jobs by making it quicker for citizens of Brazil, China and India to obtain visas needed to travel to the United States on business or to shop in U.S. stores.

  • Dollar Tree opens at Pine Tree Shopping Center

    Portland, Maine -- Brixmor Property Group announced a 11,002-sq.-ft. Dollar Tree recently opened at Pine Tree Shopping Center, in Portland, Maine.

    Brixmor, based in New York City, is the owner of Pine Tree Shopping Center.
     

  • Crate and Barrel unveils succession plan

    Northbrook, Ill. -- Crate and Barrel announced Friday that its president and CEO Barbara Turf, who is retiring spring 2012, will be succeeded by current company COO Sascha Bopp, who becomes CEO effective April 2012.

    Current CB2 director Marta Calle will become president, in charge of merchandising and marketing, and will report to Bopp.

  • Christopher & Banks to close 100 stores over next three months

    Minneapolis -- Christopher & Banks Corp. announced Friday that it will close about 100 underperforming stores over the next three months, as part of a restructuring plan that also includes format consolidations and workforce reductions.

    The women’s apparel retailer said it plans to complete most of the store closings by the end of January 2012, and will accelerate plans to convert or consolidate a number of its existing Christopher & Banks and CJ Banks stores into dual-format stores.

  • Sears Holdings supports bill to level sales tax playing field

    HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Sears Holdings Thursday expressed support for S. 1832, the Marketplace Equity Act, introduced by U.S. Sens. Enzi, Alexander and Durbin. The legislation will level the sales tax collection playing field for local businesses by granting the states authority to enforce existing laws and require out-of-state, online-only retailers to collect and remit sales taxes on sales made to state residents.

  • Cypress Equities hires leasing rep

    Dallas -- Cypress Equities said it has expanded its corporate leasing team with the addition of Karly Kilroy and Allison Campbell.

    Kilroy joins Cypress as senior leasing manager and is responsible for developing and leveraging relationships with potential tenants and facilitating leasing solutions for Cypress’ nationwide retail and mixed-use projects.
