  • O Alliance recruits circular retail exec

    Former Delia’s and J. Crew executive Walter Killough has joined consulting firm O Alliance as managing director.

    The O Alliance is a new consulting firm positioned to help retailers pursue the concept of circular commerce.  In his new role, Killough will be responsible for business development, strategic partnerships and overall day-to-day management of the company. Killough spent 10 years with junior’s retailer Delia’s and most recently served as CEO. Prior to that he served as COO of J. Crew Group.

  • Destination Maternity plans Israel expansion

    Philadelphia -- Destination Maternity Corp. will expand into Israel through an international franchise agreement with Israeli fashion retail chain H&O Fashion Ltd. (H&O). Through this relationship, Destination Maternity will introduce its Motherhood Maternity, A Pea in the Pod, and Destination Maternity brands into Israel, with the first franchise locations expected to open in spring 2015.    
  • eBay enables more commerce in Q3

    Enabled commerce volume at eBay surged 27% in the company’s third quarter with cross border trade showing particular strength, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the company from revising downward its full year outlook.

  • Fairway names chief merchandising officer

    New York -- Fairway Group Holdings announced that Dorothy Carlow will join the supermarket company as chief merchandising officer, effective Nov. 3. Carlow will lead the merchandising team and the company's buying and sales strategies.  
  • Bonial eyes development of Retale brand

    Retail advertising solutions provider Bonial International, parent company of Retale, has placed several executives in key roles as it looks to disrupt the traditional retail advertising universe.

    Dan Cripe was name chief technology officer and Andrea Francesco Domeneghini was named chief marketing officer at Bonial and will be based in the company’s Berlin headquarters.

  • O Alliance names omnichannel expert as managing director

    New York -- The O Alliance, a new consulting firm helping retailers to create circular commerce, announced that it is expanding its senior management team with the appointment of retail industry veteran and multi-channel expert Walter Killough as a managing director. He will be responsible for business development, strategic partnerships and overall day-to-day management of the company.  
  • EBay beats Street on Q3 revenue; lowers full-year forecast

    San Jose, Calif. -– EBay Inc. beat Wall Street estimates with its third quarter revenue results but lowered its forecast for full-year sales due to the impact of a May 2014 security breach. Net income fell 2% to $673 million from $689 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2013.  
  • Price investments hinder Supervalu profits

    Supervalu president and CEO Sam Duncan is encouraged with the progress the retailer is making and why not. Identical store sales in the company’s Save-A-Lot units were up 6.5% in the second quarter.

    The company’s total sales for the period ended September 6, increased 1.8% to $4.02 billion while profits declined to $31 million, or 11 cents a share, from $40 million, or 15 cents a share. When adjusted for some non-recurring items, second quarter earnings were $34 million, or 13 cents a share.
