  • Sears Canada reaches out to Target Canadian employees

    Toronto – Sears Canada is reaching out to Target’s Canadian employees. The retailer is encouraging the 17,600 workers who will likely lose their jobs when Target exits the Canadian market later this year to apply for jobs online.

    Sears Canada also plans to host job fairs for soon-to-be-laid-off Target employees across Canada, and will host a meet-and-greet for Target Canada head office employees with senior executives and HR experts at its corporate headquarters on Wednesday, Jan. 21.

  • AutoNation names CEO Jackson as president; names new COO

    Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – AutoNation Inc. has named Mike Jackson, chairman and CEO, to the additional role of president, effective Feb. 4, and signed a five-year employment contract extension through 2019. Jackson has been the CEO of AutoNation since 1999 and the chairman since 2002.

  • Staples chief executive won’t take pay increase; board changes

    New York -- Staples chairman and CEO Ron Sargent will not accept a $31,000 base pay raise the board of directors had previously approved as the chain comes off a not-so-great year.

    The company announced that Sargent would not accept the 2.5% pay increase, along with several noteworthy governance moves, including the appointment of an independent chair when Sargent retires.

    In other board moves, current director and former Toys “R” Us CEO Robert Nakasone is relinquishing his seat to make room for a Google executive.

  • Nasty Gal promotes president to CEO as founder Sophia Amoruso steps down

    Los Angeles -- Millennial fashion authority and online retailer Nasty Gal has tapped Sheree Waterson has CEO, effective immediately. Waterson, promoted from her position as president and chief product officer, which she has held since early 2014, previously was lululemon athletica’s executive VP and chief product officer.

    Founder Sophia Amoruso will continue as executive chairman to oversee creative and brand marketing functions.

  • Investment exec joins Macy's board

    A Maryland real estate investing executive has been elected to Macy's Inc.'s board of directors.

    Leslie Hale, executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of RLJ Lodging Trust, is Macy's 12th director.
