  • Free market voice argues for Walmart’s Boston presence

    Left-leaning individuals in large urban areas find lots of reasons to dislike Walmart, so it is noteworthy when someone in a liberal stronghold forcefully sides with Walmart and personal freedom.
     
    That was the case in Boston this week when the Boston Globe ran an article by Shirley Leung with the headline, “It’s time to say yes to Walmart.”

    She acknowledged the familiar narrative put forth by those who seek to block Walmart’s expansion.

  • Walgreens rebrands in-store health clinics

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens is rebranding more than 370 former Take Care in-store health clinics as Healthcare Clinics. The national rebranding effort is already in process and expected to be complete by the end of August. Rebranding includes a new web page, walgreens.com/clinic.

  • Zale promotes general counsel to SVP

    DALLAS — Bridgett Zeterberg, general counsel and secretary of Zale Corporation, has been promoted to SVP, general counsel and secretary. Zeterberg joined Zale in September 2010 and became general counsel and secretary in February 2012. Zeterberg is responsible for all legal, compliance and contractual matters, as well as corporate and board governance. She will continue to report to Theo Killion, CEO.

  • Office Depot board claims progress in OfficeMax merger

    BOCA RATON, Fla. — In a letter to shareholders, the board of directors of Office Depot Inc. said it has made significant progress toward a successful closing of the planned merger with OfficeMax by the end of this year. The letter also urges shareholders to support the board’s 10 nominees for the company’s board of directors.

  • PepsiCo joins effort to help families in need

    ATLANTA — PepsiCo and Feed the Children have teamed up with Compassion Atlanta and Walmart to distribute two tractor trailers full of food and essentials to 800 Atlanta-area children and families in need.
