  • Vikings running back Adrian Peterson joins Team Wheaties family

    MINNEAPOLIS — Wheaties has chosen MVP Adrian Peterson as the face of three limited-edition cereal boxes, the first of which is available in stores this week. 

    As the latest "The Breakfast of Champions" athlete, Peterson will be honored at a celebratory event later this month by Wheaties.

  • Overstock.com's donations to WWP break $1M

    SALT LAKE CITY — Overstock.com's donations to Wounded Warrior Project now exceed $1 million.

    In keeping with the company's longstanding commitment to support members of the U.S. Armed Forces, Overstock.com has collected customer donations on behalf of WWP since November 2009.

  • Quaker Oats establishes science advisory board

    CHICAGO — The Quaker Oats Center of Excellence has established a scientific advisory board and an online hub for resources and oat research. Developed in 2012 by the Quaker Oats Company, the Quaker Oats Center of Excellence explores the relevance and benefits of oats through science, agricultural sustainability and innovation.

    Newly appointed advisory board members were selected due to their extensive experience within their fields and will be called upon to share knowledge, information and insights based on their areas of expertise:

  • Fairway Market to anchor Hudson Yards

    New York – Fairway Market will be the anchor grocer at the Hudson Yards residential/retail complex being developed by Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group in Manhattan. The 45,875-sq.-ft. store will be located in the Hudson Yards South Tower.

  • Wal-Mart labor settlement calls for safety fixes at 2,857 stores

    Washington, D.C. -- In a settlement agreement with the U.S. Labor Department, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has agreed to improve safety conditions for employees who use trash compactors and cleaning chemicals at 2,857 Walmart and Sam’s Club stores in 28 states.

    The retailer will also pay a $190,000 fine to fix hazards uncovered during an Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspection at a store in Rochester, N.Y.
     

  • Red Robin plans grand opening in Nyack, N.Y.

    Greenwood Village, Colo. — Red Robin Gourmet Burgers will open a new restaurant at Palisades Center Mall in Nyack, N.Y., on Aug. 19.

    To help celebrate the grand opening, Red Robin will donate all receipts from the first week of sales of its signature Freckled Lemonade to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports research into cures for children’s cancer.

    On April 24, 2013, 1,127 people were killed when Rana Plaza, a garment manufacturing complex in Savar, Bangladesh, collapsed. This tragedy highlights the working conditions that may exist in Bangladesh and other countries. It also draws attention to the challenges faced by U.S. companies that want to conduct their business in an ethical and socially responsible way, particularly when operating through third-party suppliers in foreign countries.

    SAN DIEGO — Petco is leveraging social media to engage existing customers, entice new ones and, as part of its mission statement, help out shelters in need with its “Be a Great One” contest.
