  • Whole Foods Market named NRF’s Retail Innovator of the Year

    Washington, D.C. -- The National Retail Federation announced that Whole Foods Market is the recipient of its prestigious annual Innovator of the Year award.

    Walter Robb, co-CEO, will accept the award on behalf of co-CEO and founder John Mackey during the Annual Retail Industry Luncheon at NRF’s 101st Annual Convention and Expo on Jan. 17.

  • In-Store marketing vet to head shopper intelligence provider

    MONROE, Conn. — Spire, a provider of actionable shopper analytics to leading retailers and manufacturers, has announced hat Mike McMahon has joined the company as president.

    McMahon has spent half his career in consumer packaged goods and the other half working in marketing services.

    "Mike will now take up a key leadership role at Spire, committed to fine tuning Spire's strategy, managing our growth and exceeding all client and partner expectations,” said Paul Taylor, CEO and founder of Spire.

  • Costco CEO earns accolades

    CHICAGO — Investment research firm Morningstar has named the outgoing CEO of Costco Wholesale as its 2011 CEO of the Year, the company said Wednesday.

    Costco CEO Jim Sinegal, who retired on New Year's Day, received the recognition for what Morningstar called his "exemplary corporate stewardship, independent thinking" and creating "lasting value for shareholders."

  • California awards Stater Bros. for green business practices

    San Bernardino, Calif. -- West Coast grocery chain Stater Bros. said Wednesday it has been awarded the 2011 Waste Reduction Award – its second consecutive – from the state of California, in recognition for its aggressive focus on recycling.

    The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery Waste Reduction Awards Program honored Stater Bros. for eliminating eliminated 125,780,911 lbs. of waste from landfills in 2011. 
     

  • Crystals at CityCenter honored with sustainable design awards

    Las Vegas -- Crystals Retail & Entertainment District at CityCenter has earned Gold sustainable design awards from the International Council of Shopping Centers. The awards were earned in ICSC's annual U.S. Design and Development Awards competition.
