And the award goes to . . .

8/30/2010

The beautiful people turned out Monday night at the annual Emmy awards, but before doing so many participated in a pre-Emmy party the night before sponsored by Target, Revlon and People magazine. Unlike a lot of the shallow, self-serving stuff that is said to go on in the entertainment industry, the pre-Emmy party serves a worthwhile cause in that it supports the Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF), a non-profit organization that serves California's entertainment community. The group provides health care, independent and assisted living, memory care, retirement care, childcare, financial support and charitable social services to more than 60,000 entertainment industry professionals every year.

“Our sincere gratitude and thanks goes out to our sponsors, who continue to support our efforts every year, as well as the television studios, networks, talent agencies and individuals who came out to support MPTF," said Ken Scherer, CEO of the Motion Picture & Television Fund Foundation. "I am always deeply touched by the generosity of spirit in the conversations I have with those who attend these events and the compassion they have for all those MPTF helps each year, from providing healthcare to helping pay rent and buying food for people at times of crisis.”
