Amazon launches low-cost holiday sale to compete with Alibaba
Amazon is taking on the annual Alibaba 11.11 Global Shopping Festival via its bargain-priced Amazon Haul online storefront and app.
Amazon first launched Amazon Haul, a dedicated section of its e-commerce site and shopping app, in the U.S. in November 2024. Amazon Haul offers fashion, home, lifestyle, electronics, and other products with what the retailer describes as "ultra-low" prices of $20 and under, and with typical delivery times of one to two weeks.
Amazon Haul has helped Amazon more effectively compete with budget-priced shopping apps that primarily sell Chinese merchandise, such as Temu and Shein, although the elimination of the de minimis exception in the U.S. has eliminated some of their low-price advantage.

To celebrate the first anniversary of Amazon Haul, Amazon is hosting an early holiday sale through Tuesday, Nov. 11 on the storefront’s full selection of low-priced items. Many products are priced at $1 and as low as $0.11.
The $0.11 price point is presumably meant to subtly reference the annual global 11.11 Shopping Festival (also known colloquially as "11.11" or "Singles Day") held every year on and around Nov. 11 by Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group.
Since launching in the U.S., Amazon Haul has expanded to serve customers in 25 countries and regions, including a recent expansion to 14 additional countries via a standalone shopping app called Amazon Bazaar (Haul is known as Bazaar in some countries to better match local customs).
Amazon Haul has its own shopping experience, search, cart, and checkout. Customers can obtain more savings when they add more items to a single order with 5% off orders $50 and over, and 10% off orders $75 or more. Orders of $25 or more qualify for free delivery, with a $3.99 fee on orders under $25.
In other holiday promotional activities, Amazon officially kicked off its holiday sales campaign with its Prime Big Deal Days online sales extravaganza in October and continued it with the Holiday Beauty Haul which ended in early November.
The retailer also has just announced that it will start Black Friday week on Wednesday, Nov. 20 and run a series of deal events through Cyber Monday, Dec. 1.
