Amazon to invest more than $100M in robotics manufacturing facility
Amazon is expanding its robotics assembly infrastructure.
The online giant is committing more than $100 million in a new 585,000-sq.-ft. advanced manufacturing facility located in Greenwood, Ind.
The facility will integrate advanced fabrication, robotic welding, automated powder coating and assembly capabilities under one roof and produce products used in Amazon fulfillment centers across North America. It is expected to launch by 2028.
Plans for the Greenwood facility, which is expected to create 300 skilled manufacturing and engineering jobs, follows an August announcement of a new multi-billion-dollar robotics manufacturing investment in Austin, Texas. Amazon also operates one of the largest industrial robotics manufacturing operations in the world at facilities in Massachusetts it opened in 2021 and has manufactured more than one million robots in the U.S. to date.
According to Amazon, those robots are now deployed across more than 300 facilities globally, assisting employees with 75% of all customer orders the company delivers worldwide.

Amazon first came to Indiana in 2008 with the opening of a fulfillment center. Today, the retailer says it supports more than 27,000 direct jobs and 40,000 indirect jobs across the state, contributing more than $35 billion to Indiana's GDP. Amazon facilities in Indiana include:
- 17 fulfillment and sortation centers.
- 7 delivery stations.
- 4 super rural delivery stations.
- 5 Whole Foods market locations.
- 1 Amazon Pharmacy location.
- 1 Amazon Hub Locker+ location.
- 1 wind farm.
- 4 solar farms.
- 4 sites with on-site solar.
- AWS infrastructure region.
