Amazon doubles AI education investment to $800K
Amazon is expanding its support of a national initiative to expand education.
The online giant initially launched a fund to help schools participate in the White House Presidential AI Challenge in September 2025. Interest from education partners exceeded the scope of the pilot, leading Amazon to now more than double its initial investment to $800,000 and expand support to more educational partners through its Amazon Future Engineer program.
Through this initiative, Amazon Future Engineer is supporting 18 educational partners across seven U.S. regions, spanning large public school districts, charter networks, individual schools, and a state-level education service center.
Amazon Future Engineer funds introductory and Advanced Placement computer science courses in more than 2,000 high schools serving more than 100,000 students in underserved and underrepresented communities. Amazon’s funding also provides preparatory lessons, tutorials, professional development for teachers, digital curriculum for students, and live online support for both teachers and students.
All educators and students participating in this program have access to a no-cost membership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Educate, Amazon’s global initiative to provide students resources for building skills in cloud technology.
Through a collaboration with education nonprofit Playlab, Amazon will provide participating school districts with access to custom AI tools for both students and teachers, along with hands-on training to implement AI education.
"The strong response from school districts showed us how many educators are ready to bring AI into the classroom to help students build skills for the future," said Bettina Stix, Amazon global director of community impact. "By expanding this program, we're helping nearly half a million students access AI education while supporting teachers as they integrate these tools into daily learning."
This initiative builds on Amazon's broader support for the White House Pledge to America's Youth. Through this commitment, Amazon will support AI skills training for 4 million U.S. learners and enable AI curricula for 10,000 educators by 2028, including up to $30 million in Amazon Web Services promotional credits and $1.5 million in cash prizes for student winners of the Presidential AI Challenge.

"Together with Amazon, we’re meeting districts where they are," said Hilah Barbot, head of strategic partnerships at PlayLab. "It gives educators and students the space to experiment with AI in meaningful ways, building skills that are relevant today while preparing for what’s next."
