7-Eleven provides real-time mobile alcohol cashback offers
7-Eleven is expanding a program to deliver state-specific, real-time offers on beer, wine, and spirits directly to consumers’ mobile devices.
The convenience store giant is rolling out a partnership with the Swiftly alcohol cashback rebate app nationwide across more than 10,500 participating 7-Eleven and Speedway stores nationwide.
Shoppers can purchase qualifying products, scan their loyalty card or enter their phone number at checkout, and receive near-instant cashback payouts via PayPal, Venmo or digital prepaid Visa.
As part of the nationwide rollout, 7-Eleven will support these offers with coordinated in-store signage and displays. Other retailers partnering with the Swiftly program include Circle K and Save Mart.
“At 7-Eleven, we’re always looking for innovative ways to enhance the customer experience and deliver greater value to our customers,” said Yaqub Baiani, VP of digital product management & design, 7-Eleven Inc. “We’re excited to offer customers even more ways to save.”
In other joint efforts to streamline and enhance customer purchase of age-restricted products in its stores, 7-Eleven is collaborating with Jackpot.com to exclusively enable its customers in Ohio and Massachusetts to sign up and play lottery games and scratchers on the Jackpot.com app or website.
Jackpot.com has invested in protocols to allow customers of legal age to set spend limits and limits on daily deposits while providing digital access to several forms of help should problematic behavior be detected.
7-Eleven is digitally expanding access to alcohol cashback and lottery services as it plans to build 1,300 new large-format stores - 200 annually - across North America. The company is embarking on the strategy following a failed takeover attempt by Canadian retailer Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. In July, Couche-Tard, whose banners include Circle K, withdrew its $46 billion proposal to acquire its Japanese parent Seven & i Holdings Co.
The retailer is also deploying its Gulp Radio network, which delivers localized, targeted advertising and messaging to shoppers via in-store audio, across the U.S.
