Wonder expands Grubhub robotic delivery
The robotic delivery offering from Grubhub is continuing to make its way in the world following its college graduation.
Grubhub, is entering a partnership with Serve Robotics Inc. to bring robot delivery to Chicago, Los Angeles and Alexandria. This launch marks Grubhub’s first collaboration with Serve and introduces autonomous delivery to Grubhub customers in these markets.
Wonder, the delivery-focused restaurant company founded by former Walmart executive Marc Lore, acquired Gruhub from Netherlands-based global online delivery conglomerate JustEatTakeaway.com for $650 million in November 2024.
Grubhub launched a robotic delivery pilot for customers ordering from Wonder's Jersey City location in October 2025, marking the first time Grubhub offered autonomous delivery in its marketplace outside of college campuses and the first time Wonder offered robotic delivery.

As part of this collaboration, the Wonder Potomac Yard location in Alexandria, Va. will also offer delivery via Serve robots. This will be the first Wonder location outside of New Jersey to provide a robotic delivery option.
"At Wonder, we're constantly looking for ways to make the customer experience more convenient and reliable," said PJ Poykayil, executive VP of customer delivery operations at Wonder. "Our partnership with Serve brings autonomous delivery to Grubhub customers in Chicago, Los Angeles and Alexandria while also enabling robot delivery from our Potomac Yard location in Alexandria. As we continue to grow, partnerships like this help us expand delivery options, improve efficiency and create a more seamless mealtime experience."
Grubhub and Serve are also introducing Chomp, a hamburger-wrapped delivery robot advertising mascot which will appear across Grubhub's social channels and select customer touchpoints, including gift cards and swag drops. Chomp is the first character to debut through Serve Advertising’s new product, Characters, which gives brand partners the ability to create unique visual identities and conversational AI personalities for their delivery robots.
"A year ago, our robots were delivering dinner in a handful of neighborhoods,” said Ali Kashani, co-founder and CEO of Serve Robotics. “Today they serve three of the country's largest delivery platforms, they're rolling into new cities from San Jose to the nation's capital and their hospital cousins are showing up in health systems across the country.”
Part of Wonder Group, Grubhub features more than 415,000 retailers in more than 4,000 U.S. cities.
