Wayfair to open 150,000-sq.-ft. store in Atlanta in 2026
Wayfair Inc. is expanding the brick-and-mortar footprint of its namesake brand.
The online home furnishings giant will open its second large-format store, at The District at Howell Mill shopping center in Atlanta. Set to open in 2026, the 150,000-sq.-ft. space will offer an immersive, one-stop shopping destination for all things home. The assortment will include furniture, home decor, housewares, appliances, and home improvement essentials across all styles and budgets.
In January, Wayfair said that one of its core initiatives include expanding its physical retail footprint. The company is set to debut the first-ever brick-and-mortar location of its upscale Perigold brand this spring in Houston.
The Atlanta store will mark Wayfair's second large-format location, with the first opening in May 2024 at Edens Plaza in Wilmette, Ill. The Wilmette store has delivered outstanding results, contributing to sales from the state of Illinois growing more than 15% faster than the U.S. overall, from the store launch through the end of 2024, the company said.
"The excitement around our first store in Wilmette exceeded expectations – from packed shopping carts in-store, to bus tours from neighboring states,” said Liza Lefkowski, VP of merchandising and stores at Wayfair. “It's been incredible to see the enthusiasm for Wayfair in person and we can't wait to bring that same energy to Atlanta.”
Designed to bridge the gap between online and in-store convenience, many items at the Atlanta store will be available to purchase and take home the same day. The store's proximity to Wayfair's fulfillment center in McDonough, Ga. will allow for fast delivery of bigger items such as sofas.
"At the heart of our retail strategy is our commitment to providing customers with a seamless shopping experience, whether online or in-store," said Lefkowski.
The District at Howell Mill is a shopping center in Atlanta's Upper Westside neighborhood. It is situated along I-75 at Howell Mill Rd — minutes from Buckhead, Midtown, and downtown Atlanta.
The lease transaction was represented by Fraser Gough and Benton Green of Retail Planning Corporation. The property is owned by JLL Income Property Trust, a division of LaSalle Investment Management, along with Selig Enterprises, a 108-year-old, family-owned and operated real estate development company based in Atlanta.
Boston-based Wayfair generated $11.9 billion in net revenue for the year ended Dec. 31, 2024. Its brands include Wayfair, AllModern, Perigold, Birch Lane, Joss & Main and Wayfair Professional.
