Walgreens is latest retailer to offer reduced prices

Walgreens has lowered prices on more than 1,300 national and store brand products.

Walgreens has joined Target, Aldi, Amazon Fresh and other retailers in rolling out price cuts and special summer promotions.

The pharmacy and health care company said it has lowered prices on more than 1,300 national and store brand products across health and wellness, personal care and seasonal categories. (Examples at end of article.) 

Walgreens also plans to run a series of promotional campaigns, including the return of its myW Days, in mid-July.

“Walgreens understands our customers are under financial strain and struggle to purchase everyday essentials,” said Tracey D. Brown, executive VP, president, Walgreens retail & chief customer officer. “We continue to be committed to our customers by lowering prices on over a thousand additional items, something we’ve been doing since October of 2023.”

In May, Target announced it would lower prices on approximately 5,000 frequently shopped items across its assortments, including grocery items such as milk, meat, bread, soda, fresh fruit and vegetables, snacks, yogurt, peanut butter, coffee and pet food. The prices cuts are already in effect on about 1,500 items, with thousands more to take effect over the summer. 

Other retailers reducing prices include Amazon Fresh, which is rolling out weekly price cuts on a rotating basis to product categories that include meat, seafood, frozen food, dairy, cheese, beverages, snacks, and pastas, across national and private label brands. assortment of products. And discount grocer Aldi has dropped prices on more than 250 items through Labor Day on more than 250 already discounted items.

  • Salonpas Pain Relief Patch now $10.99 (was $11.99);
  • Nine (9) Can Igloo Hard Cooler now $25.00 (was $29.99);
  • Squishmallow 16” plush now $20.00 (was $24.99);
  • Lasko 20” Box Fan now $25.00 (was $29.99); and
  • Nice! Mini Pretzels now $1.99 (was $2.79).
