Walgreens extends same-day delivery to prescriptions

Walgreens prescription delivery

Walgreens is now offering same-day delivery of prescription medications in nearly all store locations, seven days a week.

Customers refilling eligible prescriptions can enroll via text. After refilling an eligible prescription, patients may select same day prescription delivery through the Walgreens website or app. Delivery fees vary by location, and the service is not available in California.

Walgreens is building on a growing assortment of same-day delivery options it provides for what it hopes will be a selection of more than 20,000 items over time. In June 2021, the retailer began offering products directly on the Uber Eats platform for same-day delivery.

The company also offers on-demand delivery of convenience, health and wellness items via DoorDash and Postmates. Walgreens has been providing combined curbside pickup for retail products and prescriptions in under 30 minutes.

“Same day prescription delivery is one more way Walgreens is empowering patients to easily and conveniently manage their health,” said John Standley, president, Walgreens. “We are pleased to make this service more widely available so that patients can refill and manage prescriptions from the comfort of their own homes and have medications delivered to their doorsteps in a matter of hours.”

Walgreens operates more than 9,000 retail locations across America, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
