TikTok Shop upgrades seller badges

TikTok Shop badges
TikTok Shop is releasing a new set of seller badges.

The TikTok social media network is helping shoppers on its e-commerce site recognize reputable sellers.

The video-focused social media platform’s TikTok Shop U.S. e-commerce site, which brings shoppable videos and livestreams from retailers, brands and content creators directly to user feeds across the country, is revamping its system to identify top sellers.

TikTop Shop is replacing its previous seller badging system with four new seller badges and keeping one existing badge. The four new badges are Official Shop, Authorized Seller, Gold Star Seller, and Silver Star Seller. The system also keeps one existing badge, Top Brand. A shop can only hold one badge at any given time.

Gold Star and Silver Star Seller

Gold Star Seller and Silver Star Seller badges will replace the "Star Shop" badge program. These types of badges are for independent sellers and serve to notify customers of high-performing sellers who consistently deliver a stellar customer experience.

To earn a Gold Star Seller or Silver Star Seller badge, TikTok shops must meet specific criteria that include, but are not limited to:

  • Uploading a shop logo.
  • Maintaining a Shop Performance Score (SPS) of 90% or higher.
  • Achieving a positive product feedback rate of 80% or more.
  • Having at least one active product listing.

Along with Gold Star Seller or Silver Star Seller badges, sellers that qualify for an SPS will show specific stats for shoppers, such as the percentage of orders shipped out within two days or the percentage of customer inquiries they typically respond to within 24 hours.

Official Shop and Authorized Seller

Official Shop and Authorized Seller badges show that a shop is qualified to sell branded products. Sellers that are awarded these two badges or the existing Top Brand badge will display a blue checkmark along with their badge to show they have been verified by TikTok Shop.

The new badges will appear across content such as livestreams, product detail pages, short videos, and in search. TikTok advises that badges are not permanent. Just because a seller qualifies for a certain type of badge doesn't mean they will continue to qualify for the same badge.

If a shop's status or performance changes, they may become ineligible for a badge they had previously obtained or become eligible for a different badge. TikTok says it will regularly check shop performance and publicly displayed badges will be updated frequently.

Trump extends TikTok deal deadline to June 19

TikTok is enacting these changes in its U.S. e-commerce seller badging system as the June 19 deadline President Trump gave the Chinese owner of TikTok to divest its American operations. Approaches.

The Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, which was signed by President Biden in April 2024 in response to longstanding concerns over ties between TikTok’s China-based parent company ByteDance and the Chinese Communist Party and risks to U.S. user privacy, makes it unlawful for U.S. companies to distribute, maintain, or update TikTok unless U. S. operation of the Chinese-owned platform is severed from Chinese control.

ByteDance and TikTok have publicly denied the validity of these concerns. TikTok briefly went dark in the U.S. during the weekend of Jan. 18-19 due to this law, but President Trump temporarily repealed the ban for a review period which initially expired Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Media reports indicate Trump, the U.S. government and the Chinese government have been actively exploring possible business deals that would let TikTok continue operating in the U.S. beyond June 19.
