Etsy crafts creativity competition

5/14/2019
Etsy is introducing a new global contest to reward a variety of crafters.

The inaugural Etsy Design Awards is a competition open to Etsy sellers around the world, designed to recognize the work of creatives across multiple areas of expertise. Between May 14 - 28, 2019, eligible sellers may submit a single handmade or vintage item in one of the five award categories: Inventive Decor, Signature Style, Festive Celebrations, Earth-Friendly and Creative Collaborations.

Winners will be chosen based on quality, creativity, utility, "wow" factor, personal story, and branding. A single grand prize winner will win $15,000, and five category winners will receive $1,000 each. All six winners will also receive a shop badge, trophy, special feature on the Etsy blog, features on the Etsy’s Editor’s Picks page, marketing emails, and social media, and a one year-subscription of Etsy Plus — an expanded set of seller tools. All shortlisted finalists will receive a finalist shop badge and be featured on an Etsy Editor’s Picks page.

An expert panel of international judges - including writer and actor Dan Levy, style expert Joe Zee, author/artist Garance Doré, interior designer Sophie Robinson, décor expert Holly Becker, fashion designer Anavila Misra, and Etsy trend expert Dayna Isom Johnson — will name winners. The winners will be revealed in September 2019.

"I'm thrilled to be joining some of the best in the business as a judge for the first-ever Etsies, and I am even more excited to uncover some of the highest-quality items on Etsy," said Johnson. "Our seller community is made up of some of the most talented and creative people in the world, and they deserve to be recognized.”
