Store Expansion News: June update
Retailers and restaurants alike made headlines in June with store expansions and new formats.

•Budget beauty brand Miss A plots store expansion Known for its extremely low prices, the Dallas-based beauty retailer has set a goal to reach 100 stores by the first quarter of 2026. Miss A currently operates about 65 locations nationwide, with recent openings in Atlanta, Indianapolis and Chicago, and expects to end 2025 with over 90 stores.
•Mango hits 50 U.S. stores with more on the way The Barcelona-based global fashion retailer has opened its 50th U.S. location with its new store in Portland, Ore. In the upcoming months, Mango will open its first store in Illinois with a location in North Michigan Avenue, Chicago’s main commercial street. The brand will also increase its presence in California with a store in Costa Mesa’s South Coast Plaza.
•First Look: Perigold makes physical retail debut with Houston flagship The Wayfair Inc.-owned brand has opened its nearly 20,000-sq.-ft. inaugural flagship in Houston within the Highland Village mixed-use shopping center. The store brings Perigold’s curated selection of designer furniture, décor and lighting from more than 150 brands into a physical space for the first time.
•Kirkland's Inc. to rebrand; 'move forward' with smaller footprint, store conversions In addition to a planned name change, Kirkland’s says it will undergo an “operational reset” to streamline its physical footprint. Kirkland's currently has 313 stores in 35 states, but says it plans to "move forward" with approximately 290 locations as the "foundational" footprint for Kirkland's Home, Bed Bath & Beyond Home and Overstock stores.
•T&T Supermarkets plans second SoCal store T&T Supermarkets, which is owned by The Loblaw Cos., will open a 61,000-sq.-ft. store in Chino Hills, Calif. in fall 2026, marking the chain’s sixth planned location in the United States. The announcement comes weeks after the Asian grocer announced plans to open its debut Southern California store in winter 2026.
•Casey’s reports strong quarter; to open ‘at least’ 80 stores The convenience store chain expects to open at least 80 stores in fiscal 2026, through a mix of acquisitions and new store construction, bringing the three-year strategic plan period total to approximately 500 stores.
•Pet Supplies Plus, Wag N' Wash to open 25+ new stores in 2025 Michigan-based Pet Supplies Plus and its Wag N’ Wash pet grooming chain are capitalizing on strong momentum with double-digit growth through the first half of 2025. The two brands have secured 15 new franchise agreements so far this year, and are on track to open more than 25 stores in 2025.
•Bubble tea brand Gong cha looks to add more than 250 locations by 2028 The company, which calls itself the world’s leading bubble tea brand, is entering the Arizona market for the first time through a multi-unit franchise agreement with Blu Tea Arizona. The deal expands Gong cha’s growing presence across the Western U.S. as part of its strategy to reach 500-plus U.S. locations by 2028.
•Chicken Salad Chick to expand in Minneapolis with 10 locations The fast-casual chicken salad restaurant will open 10 new restaurants in the Minneapolis area through a franchise deal with the Coffey family – a well-known family of basketball players who hail from Minnesota. Target development markets for the new stores include Hennepin and Ramsey County.
•PayMore opens 19 stores in Q2 — here’s where The buy-sell-trade electronics franchise has opened 19 new stores between April and June 2025, expanding in major metro areas such as San Diego, Atlanta, Chicago, Miami, Houston and Washington D.C. Following a host of recent expansions, PayMore says it has achieved a 700% increase in store count over the past two years.
•Kilwins to open 10 new Texas locations — with potential for more Michigan-based Kilwins, known for its hand-crafted chocolates and fudge, premium ice cream and more, has announced plans for 10 new store locations across Texas. Four stores are currently confirmed and under development in Waco, Midland, Cypress Waters (Dallas-Fort Worth area) and East Village (Austin).
