Stinker Stores virtualizes store operations

Stinker Stores is using edge computing in stores.

A regional convenience chain is modernizing its store technology environment. 

Boise-based Stinker Stores, which operates convenience store and truck stop locations in Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado, is utilizing the NCR Voyix Commerce Platform via edge infrastructure to modernize its store IT. Leveraging the platform, Stinker Stores virtualizes its POS system and enhances other store solutions.

Since deploying the NCR Voyix platform, Stinker Stores says it has increased its bottom line, maximized the performance of its store infrastructure and elevated the customer experience through real-time promotions across its store footprint.

Specific benefits Stinker Stores reports receiving include:

  • Ongoing pricing promotions with comprehensive reporting.
  • Virtualization allows Stinker to run the latest software on its existing hardware, achieving what the company says is 60% POS hardware cost savings and 80% savings on back-office technology.
  • Removing single points of failure and installing dual-edge servers for software updates and rollback is forecast to reduce support tickets by 50% and enhance store resilience.
  • With an agnostic hardware approach from NCR Voyix and the ability to stage a pre-configured virtualized server, Stinker Stores says store rollout is 70% faster.
  • Integrations within the software stack now take a matter of weeks, instead of months.

Stinker Stores drives loyalty

The NCR Voyix implementation follows Stinker Stores’ 2023 rollout of the loyalty, offers and engagement platform Punchh from Par in an effort to deliver more personalized offers and build loyalty, especially for products that customers might not normally purchase.

The retailer also utilizes Punchh’s customer analytics capabilities and dashboard to measure the ROI. Of its loyalty efforts With Punchh’s dashboard, Stinker can see the business impact of its loyalty efforts.
