Shipt delivers holiday hiring spree
A Target-owned online delivery service seeks to add temporary employees across all of its markets to meet holiday demand.
Shipt intends to add 100,000 temporary shoppers for the 2020 holiday season, bringing its personal shopper base to over 300,000. In particular, the company is looking for shoppers in Detroit and Grand Rapids, Mich.; Minneapolis/St. Paul; New York City; San Francisco; Los Angeles; Houston; and Chicago.
By adding 100,000 shoppers to its platform, Shipt is preparing to deliver millions of anticipated holiday orders. The company launched a nationwide hiring blitz in response to demand surge caused by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March. Since then, Shipt has expanded beyond its core grocery/CPG delivery offering in partnerships with retailers including Bed Bath & Beyond, Office Depot, and parent company Target; and also introduced a pay-per-order option.
Over the past six months, Shipt says it has doubled its shopper base while growing its membership and customer base. In addition to supporting increased holiday demand, the company also intends new employees to help support entry into more markets and retail partnerships.
"We're embarking on a holiday season like none before, and taking proactive steps to ensure we can help American families get everything on their holiday list -- groceries, essentials, gifts, home decor and apparel -- in a safe, affordable, convenient way," said Shipt CEO Kelly Caruso. "We know that one of Shipt's true differentiators is that we have shoppers who not only know how to shop really well, but also care about their work and their customers. And we know that families across America need a little bit of holiday help this season. We look forward to welcoming thousands of new shoppers to the Shipt platform this holiday season."
Shipt shops and delivers products for nearly 120 retailers across the U.S.
