Schnucks expands flexible mobile scheduling for employees

Schnucks is bringing its “Flexforce” flexible scheduling option to additional stores.

Schnuck Markets Inc. is expanding a mobile solution that lets employees select their own shifts and store locations.

Following a successful launch in its hometown area of St. Louis, Schnucks is expanding its new “Flexforce” assignment option to additional locations in Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri (a complete list of stores offering the service is provided below).

The option enables employees to optimize their work schedules by selecting shifts and store locations that best fit their personal schedules. To use Flexforce, employees (18 years of age and older) can log into a Schnucks scheduling app to view and claim open shifts and, if they choose, can also opt in to receive notifications of open shifts.

Employees using the Flexforce system will receive the same benefits and perks as traditional Schnucks associates, including career advancement, the option to be paid after each shift, health benefits (after a qualifying period), and an employee discount.

In addition to the St. Louis, Missouri metropolitan stores where Schnucks initially piloted Flexforce in October 2022, the grocer now offers the Flexforce employment option in the following areas:

Illinois

  • Alton
  • Belleville
  • Bethalto
  • Bloomington
  • Cahokia
  • Centralia
  • Champaign
  • Cherry Valley
  • Collinsville
  • Columbia
  • DeKalb
  • Edwardsville
  • Fairview Heights
  • Godfrey
  • Granite City
  • Loves Park
  • Mahomet
  • Normal
  • O’Fallon
  • Rockford
  • Roscoe
  • Savoy
  • Swansea
  • Urbana
  • Waterloo
  • Wood River

Indiana

  • Evansville
  • Newburgh

Missouri

  • Cape Girardeau
  • Sullivan
  • Union

“Much like rideshare and food delivery service employees, Flexforce teammates are able to seek and claim shifts at the time and location of their choosing,” said Schnucks VP of store operations Stacy Brandt. “The Flexforce employment option not only allows us to position our employees for success, it helps us ensure we have the right people, in the right place, at the right time taking care of and serving our customers.”

Schnucks has been applying innovative technology to improve store operations. The retailer also deploys Simbe Robotics’ autonomous shelf-scanning “Tally” robots in its stores to traverse store aisles up to three times per day and autonomously capture on-shelf data including inventory position, price accuracy, and promotional execution.

By incorporating Simbe’s robotic solution into chainwide operations, Schnucks says it gains even greater visibility into store conditions, with deeper levels of business insights.

Founded in St. Louis in 1939, Schnucks operates 112 stores across Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin, and employs 12,000 associates. It is the 15th largest privately-owned grocer in the U.S.
