Saks Global closing eight Saks Fifth Avenue stores — here are the locations

Saks FIfth Avenue Alabama
Saks Fifth Avenue store at The Summit, in Birmingham, Ala., is among the stores slated to close.

Saks Global has launched the initial phase of its footprint “optimization” review as part of its restructuring efforts.

The luxury retailer, which filed for bankruptcy in January, is closing eight Saks Fifth Avenue stores — including its outpost at mega-center American Dream in New Jersey — and one Neiman Marcus location. (See list of locations at end of article). The stores targeted for closing will remain open until the end of April.

In addition, the company is shutting down Horchow.com (Neiman Marcus acquired the home businessin the late 1990s). It also is shrinking the footprint of its standalone Fifth Avenue Club format.

In a release, Saks Global said its focus is on profitable locations with the highest growth potential. Go-forward locations are being determined as part of the company's ongoing footprint optimization plan, based on a number of factors including performance and lease economics.

Fifth Avenue Club

Saks Global is closing 14 of its 17 standalone Fifth Avenue Club personal styling suites. The retailer noted that the concept was created to serve Saks Fifth Avenue customers in markets without a physical store presence. But since its 2024 acquisition of Neiman Marcus Group, the company is able to serve customers in many of these markets through the Neiman Marcus store portfolio.

The luxury retailer plans to keep three Fifth Avenue Club locations in markets that present a growth opportunity.

Horchow

Beginning Feb. 19, customers looking to shop with Horchow will be directed to the home category on NeimanMarcus.com. The site will offer the full assortment of brands and product categories previously available on Horchow.com. This transition creates meaningful efficiencies and enables closer integration across merchandising, marketing and technology.

The moves come on the heels of Saks Global’s announcement last month that it would close the majority (57) of its Saks Off 5th oulet stores and all five Last Call stores as it looks to sharpen its focus on full-price selling and luxury retail across its portfolio. (Last Call is the clearance division of Neiman Marcus.)

"We are initiating a series of actions to reinforce Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman as the ultimate destinations for luxury with a seamless multi-channel shopping experience," said Geoffroy van Raemdonck, CEO of Saks Global. "By optimizing our operational footprint, we will be better positioned to deliver exceptional products, elevated experiences and highly personalized service across all channels, while simultaneously positioning our company to make investments that enable long-term growth and value creation. Importantly, opportunities within the luxury market remain strong, and Saks Global is primed to play a distinct, enduring role within the industry for many years to come."

Saks Global’s retail portfolio includes 70 full-line luxury locations, additional off-price locations and four e-commerce experiences.
