Report: Amazon launching luxury platform in September

Amazon will reportedly provide a concessions-based e-commerce marketplace for select luxury brands.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, Amazon will initially partner with 12 high-end accessories and ready-to-wear fashion brands from the U.S. and Europe. The platform will first launch in the U.S. in September 2020, timed to coincide with major global fashion shows.

Participating luxury brands will reportedly control the look, feel, pricing, and sales volume of their online storefronts. Dany Keirouz, head of brands relations and development at Amazon Fashion, is said to be in charge of the project.

Amazon is reportedly building a warehouse in Arizona to provide centralized logistics and fulfillment services, and will support the platform with a $100 million marketing campaign. WWD previously reported that Amazon had been planning to launch the platform in spring 2020, but delayed rollout due to the COVID-19 pandemic. An Amazon spokesperson declined to comment on the article.
