  • Passco acquires four CVS stores

    Irvine, Calif. -- Passco Cos. LLC said it has purchased four CVS stores in sale-leaseback deals.
     
    All four stores are newly constructed and recently opened by CVS, typical of the prototype for newer CVS retail/pharmacy stores. These features include drive-thru pharmacies, pick up stations, integration of CVS merchandise plans with interior design, and exterior signage modified to meet local ordinances.

  • Fameco opens Philadelphia office

    Plymouth Meeting, Pa. -- Fameco Real Estate announced that it is opening an office in center city Philadelphia to better accommodate the growth of its clientele in the market. 

  • Food Lion opens third LEED-certified store

    Salisbury, N.C. -- Food Lion has opened its third LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)-certified store, in Hope Mills, N.C.

    “By building our third LEED grocery store, we will reduce energy costs by more than 20% compared to a typical supermarket, as well as conserve 40% more water than other Food Lion stores,” said Kyle Mitchell, VP of store development for Delhaize America South. “Food Lion has one of the most advanced retail energy conservation programs in the country.”

  • Kohl’s focusing on smaller stores, looking at all options for new headquarters

    New York City -- Kohl’s Corp. is looking to focus on smaller stores as it continues to expand across the country, chairman and CEO Kevin Mansell said in remarks following the company's annual meeting Thursday, according to The Business Journal.

    The chain expects to open about 40 stores this year, and 30 of them will be smaller models. Kohl’s smaller footprint generally averages about 60,000 sq. ft. as compared with 90,000 sq. ft. for a typical store, the report said.

  • Superdry expanding U.S. footprint

    New York City -- Britain’s trendy fashion brand Superdry plans to open three stores in the United States by July.

    New stores are slated to open at Valley Fair, Santa Clara, Calif., in late May; at the South Street Seaport in Manhattan in June; and at Mall of America, in Bloomington, Minn., in July.

    The company, which hopes to open 10 to 12 stores a year over the next four years, would like to open additional stores in the Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago and Miami markets, according to Women’s Wear’s Daily.

  • Fameco opens office in Philadelphia

    Plymouth Meeting, Pa. -- Fameco Real Estate is opening an office in Center City, Philadelphia, to better accommodate the growth of its clientele in the market.

    Fameco will be fully operational in the center city office at 1425 Walnut Street in early June. Fameco partners Jeffrey Cohen, Brandon Famous and Rick Schuch will spearhead this new initiative.

  • Nordstrom Rack on Long Island to relocate

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced plans to relocate its Nordstrom Rack at The Mall at The Source to the Gallery at Westbury Plaza. The new store will be located approximately a quarter of a mile from the existing location and is expected to open in fall 2012.

  • Capilano Mall launches QR program

    North Vancouver, B.C. -- Capilano Mall is using quick response (QR) codes as an option for customers to participate in the mall's "Be Our Energy Star" contest. Entrants are being asked to write down, in 100 words or less, what they are doing to be more environmentally or socially conscious for a chance to win an Energy Star-certified LCD TV and laptop valued at over $3,500.
