New York to get a very special Target pop-up

11/3/2015

Target is setting up shop in downtown Manhattan — but it’s no ordinary store and it’s just for the holidays.

On Dec. 9, Target will officially open Target Wonderland to the public, which the retailer describes as a “first-of-its-kind retail experience” that is part magical toy store and part Pop Art exhibit.

The 16,000-sq.-ft. space will let visitors of all ages play, explore and interact with elements found in Target’s Holiday Odyssey marketing campaign. They can jump aboard the “S.S. Free Shipping” Lego ship, featured in its TV holiday spots, draw on a giant Etch-a-Sketch, face off on a super-sized Xbox Kinect Snow-N-Roll, and use a Rube Goldberg-like contraption to personalize an ornament as they move through the space.

The retailer promises that Target Wonderland will combine physical and digital shopping in exciting new ways, and give visitors a peek at the future of retail, imagined, of course, by Target.
