The mall scene that was deleted from "X-Men Apocalypse" has surfaced in its entirety online now that the film is hitting video, and movie bloggers are united in denouncing producers for having made a big mistake.

Set to the ‘80s hit "The Safety Dance," the three-minute-long montage that shows Jean Grey, Cyclips, Jubilee, and Nightcrawler strutting their stuff in a traditional enclosed mall is “the next best thing in the film after the Quicksilver scene which makes its excision puzzling — especially in a film dismissed for being all too serious,” says the site Dark Horizons.

“Damn what a missed opportunity,” opined Gizmodo.

“Deleted 'X-Men: Apocalypse' mall scene shows what the movie could have been,” ran the headline in today’s Daily Dot.

The superheroes’ genetic quirks — Nightcrawler’s webbed feet, for instance — barely attract notice in the mall, demonstrating the retail phenomenon’s societal worth as a discrete world where novelty is welcome and anything is open to consideration.

Developers moving entirely into mixed-use and open-air centers, take note.
