Party City in hiring blitz for Halloween

Party City is opening 80 to 100 seasonal Halloween stores this year.

Party City is looking to hire as it ramps up for its most important selling season — Halloween.

The party goods retailer is looking to hire approximately 17,000 seasonal workers in preparation for what it expects will be busy Halloween season. Party Goods will host nationwide in-store hiring events in all its locations on Tuesday, Sept. 14 and Saturday, Sept. 18. On-the-spot interviews and employment offers will be available on site.

Positions are available nationwide in both Party City stores and Halloween City pop-up locations. In August, the retailer said that it plans to open 80 to 100 seasonal Halloween stores this year, compared to only 25 in 2020, when celebrations were drastically scaled back due to the pandemic.

"We're both excited and proud to welcome new team members to the Party City team for the Halloween season, and beyond," said Brad Weston, president and CEO, Party City. "This is a special team to be part of, particularly this time of year, and I'm excited to be growing it by thousands of new employees, many of whom will continue on after the season and enjoy career opportunities with us."

On the company’s second-quarter earnings call, Weston said that the chain is ready for any level of Halloween demand, but that this is still a “volatile and dynamic time.” Another retailer gearing up for Halloween sales, Spirit Halloween, is looking to hire 35,000 seasonal employees.

In addition to seasonal Halloween positions, Party City is also hiring for hundreds of temp and full-time roles in its manufacturing and distribution centers in Chester, N.Y., and Naperville, Ill. Full-time Party City retail store employment opportunities will be available ahead of the holidays nationwide after Halloween.

Party City is part of Party City Holdco Inc., a vertically integrated designer, manufacturer, distributor, and retailer which consumer party goods in more than 100 countries around the world. On the retail side, Party City operates more than 800 company-owned and franchise stores throughout North America.
