Home Depot Marketing Chief Resigns

10/18/2007

Atlanta, Home Depot Inc. said on Wednesday that its chief marketing officer, Roger Adams, has resigned to pursue other opportunities.

Chairman and chief executive Frank Blake announced the departure of Adams in an internal memo. He didn’t elaborate on the reasons or say what Adams plans to do next.

Adams joined the home improvement chain in February 2005 as senior VP of marketing and was named chief marketing officer in October 2006. He is credited with spearheading Home Depot's multi-year sponsorship of the National Football League and the company's True Stories campaign, which features testimonials from actual customers.

John Ross, VP of advertising, has been named interim chief of Home Depot's marketing unit.

In an unrelated development, the company also reported the theft of a laptop computer containing data for about 10,000 employees.

The files in the laptop varied and may have contained name, address and social security numbers of employees, according to reports.
