    What’s your favorite department store? The experts at London-based design consultancy Dalziel+Pow have just come out with their top 10 global department store destinations. It’s an interesting list, with some familiar players, and some less so.

    Here are the firm’s picks:

  • iPhone sales still strong, but tablets tumble and profits decline

    Sales of 31.2 million iPhones and 14.6 million iPads during third quarter ended June 29 enabled Apple to generate sales of $35.3 billion, but lower prices led to gross margin contraction and a nearly $2 billion decline in profits.

  • E-commerce growth fuels package volume increase at UPS

    UPS reported second quarter results that were below the company's expectations as a result of disappointing performance in freight forwarding and a "slight miss" in International package.

  • HH Gregg woos tech-savvy BTS crowd

    INDIANAPOLIS — Office supplies and clothing retailers are not the only ones vying for foot traffic during back-to-school season. Students need laptops and other consumer electronics, too, and specialty retailer HH Gregg is jumping into the fray with its list of sales and specials targeted at the tech-savvy crowd.

    The Indianapolis-based retailer is marketing lightweight laptops, fully equipped with high-powered processors and storage, and Samsung tablets to schools with computer- and audiovisual-equipped classrooms as well as college-bound students. 

  • Domino’s Pizza delivers strong quarterly results

    Ann Arbor, Mich. – Domino’s Pizza, Inc. delivered strong results in net income, revenues and same-store sales during second quarter 2013. Net income totaled $33.3 million, up 18.5% from $28.1 million the same quarter a year earlier. Total revenues were about $414.1 million, up roughly 10% from $376.1 million a year earlier. Same-store sales rose 5.8% following an increase of 5.7% a year earlier, driven by 6.8% growth in domestic franchise stores.

  • Comps increase, profits tumble and CFO out at RadioShack

    Same store sales increased 1.3% at RadioShack during the second quarter, but clearance driven sales activity took a toll on profitability and the retailer enlisted the services of several turnaround firms.

  • K-C ‘optimistic’ following flat Q2 net sales

    DALLAS — Kimberly-Clark Corporation’s net sales for the second quarter ended June 30 were flat at $5.27 billion compared to the year-ago period. 

    Sales adjusted to exclude the impact of changes in foreign currency exchange rates and lost sales as a result of European strategic changes and pulp and tissue restructuring actions rose 3.

  • Johnny Rockets names Campanaro CFO

    Aliso Viejo, Calif. – Johnny Rockets has named Gary Campanaro as CFO. Campanaro previously served as CFO for the El Pollo Loco and Claim Jumper restaurant chains and has also held executive roles at Keith Companies, CB Richard Ellis and CKE Restaurants.
